The last time I was at Cabela's, they had Berry's bullets on sale, but would not give a vet discount on "guns, ammo or components" according to the cashier.
The gun library is sort of interesting. I gravitate to the Colt MK IV Series 70 guns. I sort of collect them. They had one in the Avon, Ohio store at $1700 and I found a real nice clean looking one in a PA store. So I called the PA store and asked them to ship the gun to the Avon store. No problem so they sent it and Avon called me. I went up, looked at the gun and bought it and the gun was as clean if not cleaner than the gun originally in the Avon store with a $300 higher price tag.Cabelas has gone down the tubes since bought out by Bass Pro. Used to be my favorite store for everything but now I can go anywhere to get what their selling. Last week I visited their Hammond Indiana store they had two used Dan Wesson Guardian 38 supers in the gun library, a pistol I'm interested in, wanted $1400 bucks for them. MSRP for a new one is $1550 and I can get one on GunBroker for $1200.
Bass Pro must have adapted the WC Fields philosophy of "Never give a sucker an even break and never smarten up a chump".
No robbery at all - did you buy a gun at their prices? If not, you didn't get robbed. If you did, then you agreed that the price they charged was fair, so again, no robbery. Just because YOU do not like the pricing model now in play from their parent company BASS Pro doesn't mean a lot of folks agree with you. Both stores sell a LOT of guns
I've bought Unique and Bullseye at Cabela's in the past year ... powder prices and they were back down to reasonable....weird. ... Looks like they got the message on the prices and came back down.
