I just bought my second Cabelas used revolver. I watch the local Cabelas website for new arrivals and saw this one yesterday. I went in this morning and bought it.

A S&W Model 22-4 45 ACP, 4" barrel.

It was test fired in 2007 (the shell casing was in its little initialed and dated envelope) in the original box.

I looks unfired, slight cylinder mark, no carbon on the front of the cylinder and no mark on the top strap.

This one I bought about 3 weeks ago from the same Cabelas. A S&W Model 625-2 45 ACP, 5" barrel.

I think I got a great deal on both.

I bought a 'used' Bond Arms Texas Defender .22LR (Derringer) from Cabelas for almost half off the 'new' price. This 'used' gun looked like it hadn't ever been shot and still had the original grease on it.

no Cabelas in my area, unfortunately
but I used to make a point of stopping in their Paducah Ky outlet whenever possible
they always had a fair selection of 'used' guns
(not just the usual "used" you see most anywhere else, but rebuilt by whatever gunsmithing services they use, very nice)
and always at real decent prices
shame there are not more shops like that out there

nice finds there dillardrg

Neither of these guns were displayed, they were in their "Gun Library". I had the stock numbers from their website and they had to go into the "back" to find them.

I would not have found them by just walking into the store to see what they had in the display case.

I was also somewhat surprised when I made an offer that was significantly under their asking price and they negotiated with me. They had a number in their computer that they could not go under.

The only down side to the experience was that it seemed to take them longer to do the background check than the transfer FFL that I use when having a handgun shipped to me. No biggie.

They're all really nice. I wouldn't mind having one of the stainless models as a woods gun, as I reload for .45 Colt.

"Mind telling us how you paid?"

I paid cash, but they treat it like any other checkout once the background check is done. You can pay by any method that they accept.

I found a nice little auto at Cabelas in the used counter one time. I am 100% confident that gun had never been shot. No wear on the slides rails, no marks on the magazine follower nothing. But it didnt come with the case.

I think it must have been a display model that got lost or something.

Everything at our Cabelas looks absolutely beat to h$ll. It's like everything in the used cases came out of a tackle box in the back of a pickup after a 60 year ride.

I'm envious, too.

Beautiful wheelies! I've never seen anything close to a good deal in used guns at my local cabela's. I sure wish there were nice revolvers like that there!

My local Cabelas has a bunch of stodgy old farts running the gun room, and they gouge on the prices. They are completely out of touch with what realistic used prices should be.

Now the Missouri store on the other hand comes up with some gems from time to time. Plus the manager there is a real nice guy, and willing to deal. I found a new unfired Wiley Clapp GP100 there, and had it transferred to my local store where I then purchased it.

You must be careful with purchasing used guns from Cabelas. They have no gunsmiths, and they offer no protection to the buyer on used guns at all.

I don't think the OP is going to say how much he paid. He seems to have disappeared.

I did look at the gun sales at the near by Ft Worth Tx Cabelas and all I can say is "Wow". Even if they came off the price by 15% on most of the guns they would still only be an okay deal at best. If they have a gun you have wanted forever and thats the only game in town then I guess its your money.

Anyway there is a reason I never consider Cabelas when buying a new or used gun. Ever.

I agree with your preposition, and your gunsmith observation. As far as no buyer protection on used guns, which retailer on earth offers used gun protection?

Sorry, how much?

if it was sold by Cabela's it was TOO much

May have been too much, but I don't think so. $1350 total for the pair before tax.

I checked several auction sites before making offers and the very few I saw were way higher priced.

They are revolvers that I have been looking for a decent deal on for quite a while.
