Have any of you guys bought from them?
im looking at the Bulk 9mm Luger Ammunition - 115-Grain Full-Metal-Jacket Item: IF-215169
Price: $39.99 - $139.99

for my springfield XD

Probably a good deal, but since Cabelas kills me on shipping prices, I am forced to look elsewhere for ammo. Their shipping prices to Texas kill any sort of discount I am getting on the actual ammo. If you live up north or near these guys, it might be a great deal.

Try Outdoor Marksman in Salem, Oregon www.outdoormarksman.com
I just bought a 500-round can of the Miwall 115gr FMJ reloaded stuff and it seems to be as accurate as the Winchester White Box ammo.

Shipping should be cheaper based on the shorter distance to CA. I have bought a lot of ammo from them and they do attend a number of gunshows on the West Coast. Their gunshow prices are the same as the web prices so you get a good deal unless you have to pay state sales taxes at a show.

This link is to the Miwall show schedule and it looks like there is a show in Vallejo on Feb 19-20 at the Solano County Fairgrounds.

George,

How dirty is the miwall stuff? Less/more than wwb? Reliability?

The shipping prices from outdoormarksman are great if you live in the PNW.

The Miwall ammo is actually pretty clean. I have used both their .38 spl and .357 mag new and reloads and have not noticed any difference between Miwall and Winchester or S&B. Never had a reliabiliy problem.

I also buy at the WAC show in Puyallup. The 8.8% sales tax in Puyallup is close to the same amount as the shipping charges from Salem! No sales taxes on the internet purchase.

I used to shoot that Cabela's stuff until I started to reload 9s. It's Ultramax remanufactured ammo. I've shot at least 2000 rounds of it and never had a misfire. Quality is good, price might not be the greatest.

I've seen several reports of KBs from users of Ultramax ammo, cheap ammo isn't a bargain when it blows up your weapon.

"Blazer" is a model name it is made by CCI. and to answer your original question the Cabelas ammo is ok as long as you get it in person, if it is shipped you are paying to much Win white box is usually comparable in price.

I've been using the Outdoor Marksman reload ammo for the last 2 years. I go to about 3 gun shows a year in Oregon. Always buy one 1000 round ammo box of 9mm and 40 S&W at each show and have never had a miss fire or squib. Price is alway right and just slightly lower than buying from there website.Good stuff, but I've really got to start reloading!

You get what you pay for.

consider spending the $$$ and reloading.

You can relaod your own for $4-5 a box for anything mainstream from 380 acp to 9mm to 357 sig, 10mm, and 44 mag. Just have to drop the $500 on the setup.

First case of 44 mag and you are saving money. Sure, you spend time reloading but for 600 rounds an hour - not much time.

And you know it's good stuff for your gun.

Too many squib loads and upside down primers in that cheap stuff for me :scrutiny:

I haven't bought ammo from Cabela's, but for all the other stuff I buy the freight is based on the order total. Doesn't matter if they ship it 20 miles or 2,000.

As ST said, "Blazer" is the economy line made by CCI. The cases are aluminum, and are not reloadable. This is not an issue for me as I have a good stash of 9mm brass to reload. As long as I can buy Blazer for $85 per K, I'll buy it and save my time. By the way, Blazer also makes a round loaded in brass cases that sells for about a dollar more per box. Both have worked well for me.

$6.65 per 50 round box of RELOADED ammo?

You can do much better than that.

WWB runs @ $5.25 per 50, S&B a little more, but it is NEW ammo, and still cheaper!

I've bought ammo from them before and been happy, though I generally find the prices are not super cheap and when you add in shipping, etc. it tends to even run high (especially compared to Wally World)

If you want inexpensive 9mm ammo and don't want to buy 500-1000 rds at a time find your local wal-mart.The one near me has WWB $11.00/100rds,umc, blazer/blazer brass for $5.50/50rds.These are 115fmj's,they also have remington 115gr jhp's in a 100rd bulk pack for $13.85.

Nothing I have seen beats the Blazer @ $83 per thou folks!! That's $4.15 a box for new ammo! Anyone know where it can be bought cheaper?

The Blazer with the Aluminum cases - do they cause any additional or different wear on your guns than brass? How about on aluminum alloy framed pistols? I wouldn't think so ... but you have to wonder whenever it's something "different".

Aluminum cases have never caused any sort of problem in my guns. It is cheaper to manufacture than brass cases and is not reloadable. Thus the lower price. I reload for everything I shoot, but at these prices I'll buy the 9mm.

My dad and I have been working on 1200 rounds of the Cabelas 115gr 9mm ammo for the last year (I wish I had more time to shoot) and it's been alright. It's reasonably accurate (at least as accurate as I am) but smokes a lot. I've gone through about 600 rounds of it and haven't had a misfire.

Having shot about 15,000 rounds of Miwall ammo over the past six years I can attest to it's quality.

9mm
.38 Spl
.357 Mag
.41 Mag
.44-40
.44 Spl
.44 Mag
.45 acp
.45 Colt

It's all been great ammo. Never a misfire and just last year I found one reloaded .38 Special that had a tiny mouth crack. Well after all it was a 20+ year old Rem-UMC nickeled case.
