I can't find the VZ-2008 in stock anywhere, whether its online or through a distributor without having to pay a crap load online for it.

My uncle just bought a mini-30 and Zastava AK-47, and we already have a (beautiful, brand new) Russian SKS, so I was thinking a VZ-58 variant would complete the 7.62x39 collection we randomly started, plus I am a fan of the rifle.

What do you guys think?

I think wait and get what you originally wanted. Otherwise you will be looking every so often wondering what if....

I like both my vz2008. Shoots and handles nicely, makes my saiga AK47 feel clunky in comparison.

Good theme and with a vz2008 you would have all the major rifles covered.

Bingo! I don't have a VZ-2008, but I do own a VZ-58 (Czech D-Technik version of the same carbine) and completely agree with this statement.

Go here for more info, et cetera...

:)

Not trying to bash a company, but I have sent my wasr-10 back to century for the third time. They keep bsing me instead of fixing the problem with my rifle. I would never buy one of their products again after this experience. If you want a VZ save your money and get the D-tecknik.

Wow thanks, A Matthew!

Thanks!

When I checked they were both backorder-able , but apparently just the fixed stock one is. But thats a shame cause I was SOOO hyped up for the VZ 58 then so disappointed when I couldn't find it anywhere, then I checked out the GP-75 and am SOOO hyped up about it now. Also I wanted the fixed stock one, but oh well I can always order one.

I wish I had the money for both! Or better yet, an Arsenal AK and a CZ VZ!

FWIW the VZ.58 folding stocks are built like a tank and lock up like a bank vault (absolutely no wiggle or flex outta mine). Still not the most comfortable cheek weld, but a simple paracord wrap fixes most of that.

:)

I used 5/16 fuel hose and covered it with sports tape and put a soviet grenade launcher pad on it for LOP. Real comfortable and looks good, less bulky than cords or foam covers.

The only good thing about 550-cord is you have a pretty good survival kit rolled up. It is your emergency cordage, fishing line, snares, et cetera. I'll probably never need to use it as such, but I like to have it on rifles that might be used in a survival type capacity. FWIW, there is also plenty of clearance for a fire striking steel (less magnesium block) taped to the inside of the bottom handguard...something else i'll likely never need, but nice to have if I ever do.

:)

Is classic arms reputable?

I prefer the wood stock anyway, so I think I might order that! And thats still an excellent price for one.

I backordered the VZ from J&G but they aren't getting them in until "they have no idea". They said they guessed 3-4 weeks but they never know if its coming from century.

Classic Arms are good folks to deal with, i'd buy from them before most other retailers save for my favorite LGS. Give 'em a call, they might know when a shipment is coming in.

:)

Sorry they're out, but yes, Classic Arms is a good company to deal with. I've bought more from them than any other source and haven't had a complaint yet.

@Maverick223, where/who is LGS? I did a quick net search and didn't come up with anything.

LGS is just an abbreviation for local gun shop (FWIW Eagle Guns in Concord, NC is my favorite). Classic Arms is fairly close by as well.
