Took four pistols to the range today.

Ruger LCP Gen 2 .380 (Not LCP II!) = Double Ouch! (Triple Ouch with Flush Plate).

Ruger EC9S 9mm = Ouch! (Double Ouch with Flush Plate). I'm keeping this one out of the rotation until I stop hitting the slide stop every 30 rounds. May have to add a grip sleeve as well as adjust my grip.

S&W Shield .45 = Now we are starting to get comfortable.

S&W M&P M2.0 .40 Compact 4" = The Cadillac - 1st 4 Shots I ever fired out of this pistol went into 2" offhand at 15 Yards. Could shoot a whole case through this pistol at a setting. Snap? What snap?

Hmmmm. The largest and heaviest gun of the bunch recoiled the least. Second heaviest pistol also recoiled the second least. The third the third and the lightest recoiled the most.

I think we have stumbled upon a major factor in perceived recoil besides caliber.

I know that and you know that but people afraid of recoil tend to buy tiny little .380's that have more perceived recoil than my .45 and .40...

I actually think the biggest contributor is having something to hang onto!
