This is a flagship thread I wanted to start pertaining to the "modern sporting rifle" or more specifically " the "AR-15" and how to avoid registering it as a so- called "Assault Rifle" yet still comply with or be in compliance with California's assault weapon regulations.
What I am most interested in discussing are the available devices that are approved by the ATF that once installed make an otherwise standard AR-15 California compliant.
A few of these devices are the "Patriot Pin," the "Hellfire Mod Kit, " and the "Safe Mag" system.
I am not interested in acheiving compliance by altering the configuration or components of the AR-15 by going "featureless." Changing the components or "evil features" of the AR-15 is not an option for me. What the State of California's legislation has done in its attempt to rid its citizens of their 2nd Ammendment rights is to single out certain features that modern sporting rifles share and outlaw them. However, the ones who have put these regulations in place are extremely ignorant of how these rifles operate. I wont go into the specifics of how these regulations can be basically ignored but as long as a centerfire semi- automatic rifle has a fixed magazine that can only be released by disassembly of its reciever, it no longer can be classified as an assault rifle. This being the case. None of these so- called evil features..... flash hiders, extended hand grips, collapsing buttstocks or any other part or parts that magically qualify a rifle to be considered illegal cease to be an issue as long as the magazine is fixed in place and only can be accessed by dismantling the reciever.
The devices I previously mentiond are a way to achieve compliance and are all ATF approved. Putting myself at risk of prosecutioln or putting my 2nd Ammendment rights in jeopordy must be avoided at all costs. So installing one of these ATF approved devises keeps me safe from prosecution and also keeps my rifle in its original configuration.
