TRENT - "The 2nd amendment is all but gone now, in California."

The 2nd Amendment has been dead in Calif. for many years. I lived in Los Angeles for 36 years, and fought against the slow, deadly strangulation of our Rights. It didn't matter. Calif. is controlled by the communistnazis in Sacramento, and the various city councils and county supervisors of the metropolitain areas.

There are not enough conservatives in Calif. now to make much difference.

So are we all agreed that when the Chinese invade the west coast that our defense starts at the Arizona and Nevada borders?

Oregon is an open-carry state (Portland and Salem excepted via municipal ordinances) with no "assault weapons" laws. Just sayin'.

From what I've seen, that line of liberalism is slowly spreading east, with little islands connecting it back to the Atlantic along the way. Denver. Chicago. Etc.

It just seems to me like when you get more people together in a confined space (e.g. Major Metropolitan sprawl)... people just get.. dumber, somehow.

Like a herd mentality thing. Maybe we just get to see the average human level easier (and maybe the average human level is appreciably lower than I thought it was).

There's people who enjoy living life packed together like that - nothing against them, I'm friends with many - but not my cup of tea.

I prefer to be 30 miles from the nearest starbucks and traffic light.

I've often wondered what my life would be like if I were born in a different century.. say.. 1850. Probably not much different than it is today, just with more time outdoors and less time staring at screens of pixels. :)

My point of this little side-trip is that when you cram that many people together, the "sharp ones" tend to percolate up to the top.. and the "smart ones" are the ones that typically want to shepherd and control the herd, because then it's easier to stay aloft of the masses.

What we are seeing in our liberalism and political movements today is nothing more than a side effect of overpopulation.

That old saying, "as California goes, so goes the country" is complete hogwash. Colorado IS a clearly demonstrated case - not one California lawmaker has been recalled for anti-rights votes, but two Colorado senators are looking for work. Arizona has better and better firearms laws every year, and we share a border with California. They aren't the leader of anything but exporting Calirefugees.

That is just ******ty. I'm assuming the "Bloods" and the "Crypts" will be the first in line to register their AK-47's since those have removable mags.

I really do hope Cali can figure out a way to fire up the Pro-2A base in the area.

What really kills me is that Californians think the whole country is just dying to jump in line behind their stupid policies.

I think you misunderstand. States that are gun friendly today can change, due to demographic shifts and urbanization, both of which trend toward collectivism and curbing of individual liberties. The point is, California was characteristically rural and conservative until not all that long ago, until immigration and coastal urbanization overwhelmed the politics of the state. And there are currently-pro-gun states that threaten to go the same way. Texas and Florida come to mind.

It's easy to dismiss California, but I believe a stand needs to be made here, and I intend to be a part of it.

As a lifelong Californian, I agree with almost all of what is said in this thread. The bottom line is that we, as freedom loving, gun packing 2A supporters, are vilified and looked down on by the sheeple here, they equate gun ownership as the same as child molesting. It does make me sad though that the rest of the country assumes we vote for these idiots who have ruined the state, the whole thing comes down to simple numbers, there are a few million of us and tens of millions of brainwashed opposition. I am ashamed to be from the state that has polluted the world with the likes of Feinstein, Boxer, Pelosi.

The mistake that many of you make is writing off the state here though. We are in a battle for our civil rights here, the more we lose, the more it WILL affect you in your free state. Sure, Feinstein's National AW Ban Redux was defeated and yes, states are making incremental gains, but the disease and tyranny seeping from California, Connecticut, New York, Massachusetts, Maryland, Hawaii is a cancer and that cancer will affect you in the healthy parts of the body. We all fight together or we will all die together, it's that simple. Support your brothers and sisters in arms on the front lines, it's a simple matter of self-preservation.

Very well said and also as a lifelong Californian (60 of my 64 years, born here) I agree completely.

It is frustraing to read so many responses that just tell us to move, scold us for voting for these idiots (we didn't) and/or vow not to support us or any firearms businesses that operate here. I wonder who's side they are on for cryin' out loud.
