California legal Yugo SKS

Thanks for clearing that up.

I've been calling some of the shops here in CA. It seems that the market for the Yugo 59 is pretty lean. I've only been able to find an unissued one for $289. I know that price is high, but should I jump on it before supplies dry up and the price increases even more?

The 59/66 can be legal, but the GL must be disabled. Some weld a sleeve over it, some drill holes in it.

I believe InterOrdnance sells PRK legal modified 59/66s.

CAI used to sell modified m59/66s for california. they no longer do so. to be honest with you the one i had kind of sucked. it was way too heavy in front, and the heavy muzzle brake made it worse.

i have two skses, an m59 and a chinese paratrooper. both are excellent and handle far better than the 59/66. honestly i have no idea what the yugos were thinking when they issued that "upgrade". They basically took a smooth carbine and turned it into a clunky rock chucker.

if you want a grenade launcher in your fire squad... bring an mk69. dont futz with the rifle..

the model 59 Yugo doesn't have a grenade launcher, thats what the 66 in 59/66 stands for in 1966 they added the grenade launcher.

Also any other SKS does not have a grenade launcher only the yigo 59/66

59/66 are not CA legal.

Not true. I bought a 59/66 at the local outdoors chain here.

It was imported by C.A.I. and It has a muzzle break to replace the GL attachment which is illegal in CA. It cost $180. I like this rifle. It is very beefy and pleasingly accurate for being so cheap. Recoil is nearly zero. I put the tech-sight rear peep sight on it and it's an awesome plinker.

buy an m59 while they are still around. pretty soon they will reach chinese paratrooper sks prices. the russian guns are nice but most of them are not in very good condition. the yugos also tend to be much more robust.
