I was just wondering if some of you that either carry a Colt or Kimber 1911 w/3inch barrel, would give me an idea of what type of CCW holster that you use. I have a Galco > lower back > on the belt and was just trying to get some ideas of something that maybe better or that could also carry an extra magazine

TIA
Mike

I use a Don Hume JIT Slide for everything. They run about $22.

Like most everyone I have a box of holsters I tried but I like this one the best.

Are there any like the Don Hume that have a Magazine slot too?

Can you buy Don Hume JIT slide in any gun shops in Texas?

(You left out the king of the 3-inchers, the Springfield Armory Loaded Lightweight Micro-Compact.)

I have a couple of these babies, and they ride easily in either Kramer IWBs or Belt Scabbards. They cannot carry an extra mag (an off-side mag pouch is probably better for concealment and ease of use anyway), but the Kramers, being made of horsehide, are possibly the most durable leather holsters made, as well as superbly fitting (the pistols) and highly concealable.

Kramer's got a great website (www.kramerleather.com and nowhere near the unreal waiting periods of your Alessis, Sparks, etc ...

I'm a big fan of the Don Hume Jit Slide holsters in general. It doesn't conceal too well during the summer, though...

SmartCarry

I carry a 1911 Kimber Ultra Carry II and have been using the SmartCarry. It offers deep concealment and comfortable carry. It has separate compartment to carry spare magazine. Check it out at: http://www.smartcarry.com/

Any of you carry the Para Ordinance Carry w/ 3'' Barrel? How do you like it?

I just put a Taurus 2" snubbie 45acp revolver on layaway.

I have carried the Para Ordnance Slim Hawg in a Galco USA IWB holster. Recently switched to a Springfield Champion to get a full grip, but no complaints about the slim hawg, I still carry it when doing yard work.

I've been wanting to tell y'all.

I have been using a PS6 from Mernickle holsters works great with my 1911 5"
I'm sure they have a similar holster for a 3".

The ps6 is built to push the grip in towards the body.
I can wear a t-shirt and jeans and its fairly difficult to tell I'm carrying.

This is what I wanted to tell y'all, a while back I needed to go to the store really quick instead of puting on my belt and the rest of the gear, I just stuck the pistol in side the waist band right where I normally have the holster.
It stayed put well to my amazement, so the next day I went down to the store to find a decent IWB holster. Knowing I needed to keep the pistol off my skin, I ended up buying a Ross Leather IWB tuck holster Model m15s
(M15rts/a-medium) $35.00 . I put it on at home and I didnt like it cuz the holster had this metal belt loop holder thingy to keep the holster in place during Drawing and reholstering, the thing stuck out so much it was very uncomfortable, unhappy I threw it in a drawer and forgot about it for awhile. Then one day I had an epifeny, I removed that thingy from the holster carefully, the grainy side of the leather happens to be on the outside of the holster and grips well IWB. I've been able to put it in different positions and angles along beltline.

PM me if you have any questions about it. I'll be happy to answer them.

WoW that many people carrying 1911s for a CCW :D I just cannot bring myself to be advantagious and resurrect the old combat pistol to a CCW. But cheers for those of you that are die hard fans!

I carry my Kimber Ultra CDP in a UBG Chanute IWB holster, I also use it to carry a full sized RIA 1911. OWB, I tried a new company Sideguard Holsters and it is not as refined as UBG but it works well. I'm looking for a proper belt now, they are as important as the holster for good concealment. Mike

I will carry either a Colt 1991A1 Compact (3 1/2") or a Gold Cup Trophy (5') as my CCW and my carry rig is Wild Bill's leather.
The holsters run in the $70 range but they are high quality.

Carry Kimber Ultra CDP II 3" in Galco Concealable OWB holster. Very comfortable for me

msimonds,

There is a guy that comes to all the bigger gunshows in Houston that has a whole booth of the Don Hume leather products. I think someone told me he lives between Dallas & Houston. The last show I was at he had at least 5 for every gun made and substantially more for the 1911's. I dont know if you frequent the local gunshows there in Dallas, but it is a great place to look. His prices are very reasonable.
