I have a friend who recently bought a new Springfield 1911, and when he ordered extra mags for it (with the coupon that came with the gun), I asked him to get 2 of their 10-round single stack mags for me. They just came in, and when I went to test them in my pistol, they were surprisingly tight.
My 1911 is a Sistema. When I first got it, it wouoldn't drop any mags freee, so I relieved the inside of the mag well until everything I had (surplus GI mags and Wilson Combat 47Ds) would jump right out. Since then, I've used other peoples' mags on a number of occasions, and never had any issues with the mag well being tight. These two Springfield mags, though, are tight enough when empty to not even move when I press the mag eject button, and when loaded full I can't even force them all the way into the gun. OTOH, they fit just fine in my friend's new Springfield 1911.
Any idea if Springfield is making their magazines and magwells overly large, or is it my gun that's the problem?
