Anyone who owns a Taurus 905 who is either unhappy with the factory Stellar clips or is having trouble getting clips, I have just spoken with the people at Ranch Products. He is making a couple prototype clips for me to evaluate for use in the 905 Taurus Revolver.

These clips will basically be the same as the clips for the 940 S&W and Ruger 9mm revolvers, only they will be made with .022" thick sheet metal instead of the .036" thick sheet metal used for the S&W and Ruger clips.

Anyone who is interested in buying some of these clips please reply here and send me a private message. My goal is to get enough confirmed buyers to make it worth while for Ranch Products to make these for us.

I don't know the price details yet, kle. He has agreed to make some prototypes and send them to me for evaluation. Once the details are ironed out, I hope that there is enough interest for him to make a production run. The ideal situation would be the same price as the S&W/Ruger clips, but I cannot speak for them. At this point, I just need to find as many people who are interested as possible to make it worth his efforts.

Update

I spoke with Steve at Ranch Products today. He is just finishing up a run of 45 acp moonclips and hopes to have the prototypes for the 9mm moonclips done end of next week. I will let everyone know how they work as soon as I get them.

Had one, could not stand the factory clips and traded it for a 332. Otherwise the revolver went bang when I pulled the trigger.

I never used any clips when I had my 905.

I hope the new clips do well though.

Thanks for the encouraging words Lovesbeer99.

Ranch Clips Prototype Update

I received the prototype clip from Ranch Products. The thickness is .024" This is slightly thicker than the .019" Stellar Clips and a heartier design. The hub hole on the prototype did need to be opened up a few thousands to clear the Taurus hub. So I passed on the these photos and measurements to Steve at Ranch Products for refinement. Here are some photos of the project:

I had the 905 too, also got rid of it mainly because of the rotten fitting clips. Now if S&W made a 642 in 9mm +P+ with the proper sized clips it would be a great gun to back up a semi auto in the same caliber or even as a primary CCW. I originally bought the 905 to back up my G-17. Nothing like a semi auto and revolver BUG in the same caliber.

For some crazy reason I want a 905. Maybe to test ag'in my S&W 940 :D

Were the earlier ones on a shorter frame, a .22 length frame versus a .38 length frame?

I was seriously shopping a few weeks ago once I heard that a local shop had a new 905. It turned out to have the .38 length frame, and yes, it was new. But I was considering, until I noticed the trigger.

The trigger was at an angle and actually stuck out past the trigger guard a little bit. But I could push it sideways until it was in the right position. This was a sick 5-gun and somehow I ended up getting the 40-year old Model 57, which was not a bad choice.

Who will still look for the small 905s.
