I am searching for a scope on see through mount for a Camp 9 that will close focus? I planed to use the Camp 9 for home defense and will practice at an indoor range (30 feet or so) What scopes are out there with close focusing ability (some as close as 3 yards) that have variable power or low power?

Just me, you understand, but at distances under 25 yards I'd be more inclined to use some kind of red dot device.
Perhaps something that throws a dot on the target.
If "HD" includes your whole yard, you're still inside 50 yards. If it's beyond 50 yards, you have other problems, and the Camp 9 is not the right tool.
You're not looking for magnification at the ranges we're discussing, so a 1x, or maybe 2x (maximum) red dot gizmo would be fine.
Function in poor light is more the objective.
I'm still on my first cup this morning, and brand names are just not coming to me.

At 30 feet and in you might want to google up "Quick Skill" or "Quick Kill" shooting techneques.
This is what most folks would call "point shooting" but it does work and requires no batteries or screws that might come loose on a mount.
Find an adult sized BB gun that mimics as close as possible the shape of your Campy to start training. once you are at least minute of soup can at 30 feet consitantly and honestly then move to your Campy or something of a similar shape like say a 10/22 to get better. The nice thing about the BB gun part is you can get your 2000 repitions for "muscle memory" in for cheap.
I have an old Crossman AiR-15 I use to keep my hand in so I can still do it on deand with an AR type. At ranges where I can shoot my AR type on the pistol lanes I carry a rifle along to practice a few presentations with.
If you think this can not work, talk to some shot gunners, especially trap shooters.
No Batteries, no nukes, no flashlights, no lasers. Just hits on target. Do it enough and there is nothing to forget.

I have one of those set up with a folding stock and 2X red-dot. It's what I use for 'H-D around the house', with 20 round mag. I've gotten pretty good at 'point shooting' after much practice with a .22LR semi-auto. install a heavy recoil spring in that carbine first thing.

Well, I have a Ruger PC9 9mm carbine set up for home defense. It came with ghost ring sights (a nicely huge rear aperture hole), and rings.
The rings are sitting in my gun parts chest. the only thing ive added to it is a 30 round magazine full of JHPs, a butt cuff pad that lets me get on target faster and holds two 15 round magazines.
that's all i need. one day perhaps i might put a red dot on it.. but for now it seems to be just great the way it is. i suggest you might try this first.
dont forget also to train a lot shooting multiple plates quickly at close distances. it's not the same as true tactical training, but i'm pretty confident in my ability to put a lot of 35 cal holes downrange in pretty good groups - fast.

FWIW you are looking for a hardware answer to a software problem.
Like the truism that there is no replacement for displacement, in SD there is no replacement for practice. NO magnified site should ever be needed inside 30 feet, let alone 10 feet. If you cannot master keeping both eyes open and seeing your sights on a target, then you have not practiced enough.
Save your money for that sight and spend it on some self defense shooting classes.

1x red dot. You can pick up a Tasco ProPoint at Wal-Mart for $40 or so to see whether you like the concept, and it's a decent sight.

Replace the Camp 9 buffer with one from Blackjack Buffers (your's will crumble eventually) and perhaps a stronger recoil spring from Wolff. Don't use a strong brake cleaner-type product, the Marlin plastic will "melt." Otherwise a good, fun gun!
Mine is going to be set up with a red dot. Extra mags (2 in a stock pouch, made by Uncle Mike's).
The Camp 9 uses the same mount as a Marlin 336, fyi.
I love mine. Also, might want to get a new buffer from Blackjack Buffers, and some heavier Wolff springs for +P ammo.

Topping a camp 9 with an eotech or an aimpoint would be incongruous overkill.
Bushnell makes perfectly serviceable and reliable red dots for about $70.
Magnification is certainly NOT indicated for the intended application.

So true, no substitutes for training. My buffer has been replaced as well as the one in my camp 45 (it failed first) Tanks for the tip “). The Camp 9 uses the same mount as a Marlin 336.” It will come in handy. Since it uses the S&W 59 series magazines which semi auto S&W do you recommend?

a 915 or one of the 5906 models. some of them are DAO. the 915 and a couple of the 59's are alloy frames. so is the 910(10 round mag but accepts the hi-caps) the 915 is a shooter.
