I remember reading that it takes some type of common Marlin scope mount base but my search didn't turn up anything. I am thinking it was Marlin 336 scope mount bases that fit the Camp Nine. Can anyone confirm or deny this? I just can't remember and can't find it at the moment.

My father has a entire box of new in package scope mounts in his basment and I think I remember seeing some for lever action Marlins IIRC. He would go to gunshops, gunshows and Walmarts and buy everything they had on clearance. He still does that but now with Lowes and Home Depot more than gun stuff. I wish he would still buy the gun stuff since that is the only thing I care about.

What I think I need is the models that the Camp Nine will fit since that is the way I will be sorting through the mounts. For example, a Marlin 39 may have the same mount. I don't know which other Marlins will work. I remember seeing more than one mount in his box for Marlin lever actions so I need to know which lever action it will fit.

albanian, I had a Camp 9 years ago when they first came on the market. I tried adding a scope to shoot out to 100 yards. The big problem I found was if I sighted in at 100 yards with 115gr, then I was about 6 to 8 inches high at 50 yards. Conversly, sighting in at 50 yards yielded the same, 6 to 8 inches low at 100. The 9mm IN MY OPINION is not a good cartridge out past 100 yards. Instead, I added a Williams peep soght, but that required adding a front sight block also. I finally determined that the best thing FOR ME would be to leave the factory sights on and not worry about shoioting long distances. I ultimately sold it and went with .223 powered rifles.

I am not knocking your desire to add a scope to a Camp 9. I think the 9 is a wonderful close range defence/plinker rifle. Mine was totally reliable. I basically have now replaced the pistol caliber rifle with a 12 gauge and tactical slugs and buck shot. AND, I think the base for the Marlin 336 is the same drilling for the Camp 9. Good luck on your venture.

I just finished mounting the scope mount and scope on the Marlin. My dad had a cigar box full of scope mount bases that he bought on clearance. Most of the prices were like $0.57 or $0.37! I gave him $2.00 for four different mounts and when I got home, only one of them fit so it was a good thing to get all four.

I wanted to mount a scope because the iron sights on the Marlin are a joke, I have seen better sights on pellet rifles. I think it will be a lot more fun now that I can hit pop cans at 50 yards or so. It is such a soft shooting carbine that it almost feels like a .22lr. I have S&W 6906 now so I can swap mags between the two. I have always wanted a pistol carbine duo and one that can swap mags is just a bonus.
