I just picked up a Marlin camp carbine in 9mm yesterday. I've read that I ought to put in a beefier spring, but can't find what weight spring I should use for the 9mm. What is the recommended weight? Also, what size spring do I buy (I couldn't find a "camp carbine" spring on brownell's)?

One more question: what magazines do I buy when I realize that one 20 rounder isn't nearly enough? The guy at the store said the magazine looked like a S&Wmagazine, but didn't know what model.

Also, does it have an auto bolt hold open? It seems like it has the parts to do it, but it doesn't hold open without engaging the bolt stop manually. Is this how it works on it, or do I need to do a really thorough cleaning to get it working again?

Thanks,
NateG

The mags from my S&W 5906 fit my camp9. A couple of things you need to know.

1 certian solvents will melt the plastic parts on your marlin

2 never shoot +P ammo in it.

3 make shure the recoil buffer is intact.

Get the springs from Wolff. They sell a 16 & 21 lb spring. I've heard the 16 is sufficient for 9mm, but the 21 works well too.

(Mine's a .45, so I can't say for sure)

I use the 21# spring in my Camp 9 from Wolff. I do not shoot +P in anything I have as I don't see the need to possibly damage any firearm.

Thanks for the help. A coubple more questions though, which springs do I buy? (1911 springs in the weights listed below? Some other pistol springs? I couldn't find any springs from Brownell's listed as "camp carbine" springs.) Also, where can I find a recoil buffer? Or, can I use a buffer normally sold as being for another gun? (Again, Brownell's doesn't seem to have anything, and they don't have Marlin parts for the Camp Carbine)

Thanks,
NateG

Okay, I'm an idiot

I found the camp carbine springs on the Wolff website.

But I'm still looking for the 9mm recoil buffer. Any one know where I can buy one, or a buffer for another gun that will fit the camp carbine?

The rifle comes with a recoil buffer from the factory but they are prone to cracking and coming apart due to age and appearantly nobody makes a replacement at this time.
