Considering looking at a CETME, would like to know if the magaziens are interchangeable.

Also, TAPCO had a deal a few weeks ago for 50 magazines for $50. Now they are out every place I am finding them for sale is for $15 ea! This seems like a huge discrepancy. Does anyone know where you can buy CETME mags cheap? What do they usually go for at the gunshows?

Also, I am seeing some magazines advertised as 30 rounds for the HK/G3. Will these work in a CETME and are they reliable?

YES!! some very minor fitting may be required on the mags depending on your century reciever.

Kentucky, try copesdistributing.com. They have the alloy G3 mags for 1.20 apiece. I checked about twenty-five of mine in my Cetme. Approximately half fit no problem, the other half wouldn't fit in the magwell. The Century receivers are apparently not quite in spec. Hope this helps.

I had a Century CETME and used G3 mags in it all the time. They were just as reliable as the real CETME magazines.

My Century CETME, however, had an severely out of spec bolt-gap and was beating itself to death......got rid of the POS before it busted into pieces.

The G3 mags did work great though.

as you can see it's a yes and no answer. It depends on the type of reciever used and how well the rifle was put together.

I have three CAI CETMEs and all three take the G3 alloy mags like a duck to water. The problem with the CAI CETME builds is USUALLY that CAI left the magazine catch too squared off; the alloy mags simply don't have the mass/strength to push the square-edged catch out of the way so they can fully insert. The symptom is that the mag will start to insert but jam and refuse to move past a certain point, and when you remove the mag you'll see a gouge in the soft aluminum (on the leftt side, if memory serves me) where the mag catch simply dug in. The steel CETME mags work ok with the CAI mag catch/release assy. because, well, they're steel.

If you have a CETME that won't take alloy G3 mags, the easy fix is to remove the mag catch and contour the lower edge and corners so that the magazines can 'ride' up the catch without snagging.

Oh, and if Copes is out of G3 mags - Maine Military has the alloy G3 mags for $2/each.

Order from Maine Military. I went there today and they had a cart full of CETME mags for 2 bucks each

Original CETMEs shouldn't take G3 mags reliably, whereas G3s could accept the CETME mags without problems.

However, I believe all of the US-built CETMEs use a G3-clone receiver, with the CETME rear sight base, so using G3 mags isn't usually a problem.
