No doubt. And we get exactly what we are willing to stand for, and that seems to be quite a bit. But hey, we got beer and football!
All I'm trying to to is point out that many seem to have their heads in the sand when it comes to what they seem to think isnt registration, when it blatantly is.
If you want to believe that it isnt, hey, I dont care. If anything you now have, like that AK or AR, that you bought from a dealer on a 4473, is down the road declared to be an NFA item, or banned outright, you can bet your sandy head, you will get a letter at first, (if your lucky) and then a visit. And I hate to tell you, your lame story about losing everything in a boating accident aint going to fly, and their BS meter will be way off the chart as soon as you mutter it, and they have no sense of humor. They will want to see the gun, or you will tell them who you sold it to, so they can forward trace it. Oh, and if you think the "anonymous" gun show route is going to save you, think again, they are going to want to see a bill of sale, you know, the one you kept for "tax purposes". You did claim the sale on your income tax, right? This can and will get a lot uglier than your "I dont have to tell them nuthin'!" responses. Ever deal with the ATF or IRS when they are even mildly pissed off? I know a couple of people who have, and believe me, you really dont want any part of that.
Oh, and if you were silly enough to buy things like parts kits, and things like this that are not even "guns" and dont even "need" any kind of regulation, keep this in mind. Back in the 90's they used to sell suppressor tubes and parts kits, separately mind you, and all perfectly "legal", all over the SGN and other publications. That was until the ATF seized all the shipping records of the companies selling the kits. See where this is going, or are things still a little "sandy?"
The ATF cross referenced the shipping lists and anyone who had one from column A and one from column B got a visit.
