I heard someone say this on another board:

I have a friend in DC who has said the next AWB is already laid out, and that they (the anti-guners) are going to push for a ban on everything, but settle for a permanent ban on hi-cap magazines. From what I am hearing, this has been laid out pretty well.

Any chance that this is true? If so, I will alter my buying plans, and just buy tons of rifle mags. I don't have any hi-cap pistols. Should I get a hi-cap pistol with a bunch of mags just in case?

Well, of course it's true! The lefist extremist anti-Second Amendment bigots aren't going to quit trying to disarm the commoners just because a single law lapsed. They've been at this for decades. They're going to continue for decades to come.

The price of freedom is eternal vigilance.

This is why it is imperative that we push back even further. With the passing of the AWB we have the political momentum. Be it national CCW reciprocity, pushing for repealing parts of the import bans, GCA '68 or NFA '34 we must continue to push our agenda. We need to pick the next issue or issues, communicate via the web, NRA, GOA, JPFO, etc. and get organized.

Going on the political attack gives us the chance of repealing even further infringements, and if nothing else, keeps the anti's off balance and forces them to fight battles on multiple fronts.

The antis are absolutely planning a new ban and hi-cap mags will be a target of it with the failure of this ban... whether it happens or not will depend on whether gun owners can deliver the votes in November.

One thing to consider, you can drop $25-75 to support a pro-RKBA candidate now or pay $25-75 more EASILY in feeding-frenzy mag prices trying to buy them all before January.

We need a ban on state gun laws...buying a 30rd mag in free America means you are a law abiding citizen...in CA you'd be a felon spending 10 years with anti-gun bubba in state "bam-bam" prison.

Probably.

See what they're doing? Compromising on offense. Thats how they get their agenda advanced. Thats what we fail to do. "I won't accept X because the Constitution says I should have Y." Yeah, meanwhile the guy trying to bust you back to A is willing to take D in compromise. We lose.

The way to fight, however, is to not compromise on defense. Give up nothing.

Ok. You think that you have enough votes to ram through a ban on everything, when you couldn't cobble together support to renew a ban on bayonet lugs?

Oh freakin' BRING IT!

Close ranks. Stand ground. Shoot deserters in the back of the head with your makarovs. ;)

Mike :p

PS Thats a humorous metaphor. Not inciting to violence. This warning has been issued for the humor-impaired in out midst. ;)

That's the thing though. They are supposedly going to shoot for the moon, but settle for a permanent ban on full-capacity (hi-cap) magazines.

They are planning to go after the mags. The ONE EFFING PART OF THE WHOLE MOTHER-EFFING AW-EFFING-B THAT MATTERED!!!!!!!!

We need to stay vigilant. They caught us with our pants down once, and I'm not getting caught with my pants down again.

In the words of Del McCoury...

...those pretty girls are thinking while you're sleeping,
they've got a plan for you that's nice and neat.

We must never give up.

I like what I'm reading, but remember: we're just a bunch of "Gun Nuts." Only--ONLY if the politicians fear our reaction will they continue to turn and run at the mention of "gun control." That means we have to be relentless in our vocal opposition to gun control, and we've got to put our money where our mouth is. I favor direct support of my pro-rights representatives, but there's also NRA, GOA, etc. Money talks, unfortunately.

Until pro-gunners swear off "Live and let live" as an operational philosophy, we will continually be on the defensive.

The AWB just expired. That's nice, but so what in view of the blizzard of existing bad law.

Sooner or later the blissninnies will notice the lack of blood in the streets and a decidedly low body count due to all these savage killing machines unleashed by the sunset of the AWB.

I want to know what the next target is for repeal. Enough of "Live and Let Live" in politics.

I want roll back of particularly bad legislation.

Let's get silencers deregulated. With people living in close proximity, noise pollution is an important topic. Even Europe, with strict gun control laws, mostly allow suppressors. Also, the decreased decibels will have a significant effect in lowering hearing loss among the population, especially young people.

After all, it's for the children.

Vote a straight Republican ballot ...

No #*(@&%!! way. My RINO Senator voted for the ban amendment, and co-sponsored the AWB extension bill. If he comes up for election again, I'm either voting third-party or, if there is none on the ballot, leaving that section of the ballot blank.

Then fight him in the primary. That's what they are for. Coordinate a write-in campaign if you have to.

Not necessarily relating to you, but too many people don't give the primaries the attention they deserve.

I'm sure that somebody in Congress will propose a New Expanded Coverage Ban next year. You can be sure that if the K man gets in, he will push for this law, and have his fellow Democrats make it Permanent.":fire:

Exactly. And that tactic will work...IF we cave in to their bluff that they can ban the whole kit and kaboodle.

This is the logic. "We are going to ban everything. We can do it. We have the votes. Now...out of the kindness of our heart we will cut you a deal. Ban standard-capacity mags, and we'll drop the rest."

Our response? It should be: "You don't have the votes. You couldn't renew the AWB ban, which in an election year should have been an easy sell, what with all of the disinformation you spew and the complicity of your media whores. You couldn't do that. You can't do this. You're bluffing. We call your bluff. Go ahead and try to ban everything. Bring it."

You can also remain a Republican and campaign for his opponent in the primaries.

Coronach is exactly right. Make 'em put up or shut up. And make your your Congressman and Senators know that if they cave, you will actively work for their replacement.

Considering that there are 5 Constitutional amendments as active legislation in the Senate and more on the way, it would not be a big leap to propose changing the 2nd Amendment to explicitly include "collective right". Assuming eventual ratification, they could ban anything they wanted to, including all guns except for police and military. It's imperative that liberals never have that much clout.

One could say that such a thing will never happen, but that's what they're after, whether in one grand play or a death of a thousand cuts.

They trial balloned national AWB II in Maryland last March

Sarah Brady even showed up to crow

ploink, it failed even after Neil Quinter reduced it to a mere extension of AWB I

its failure to pass in MD was a foreshadow of the Sept 13th sunset

If they ban outright

Of course I wouldn't do this, (not me!) but in general gunowners are extremely law abiding. Look at all the fussing that has been done over whether the ban ended last night at midnight or in 6 hours from now! Worrying for 10 years whether a couple dollar chunk of metal on the end of a barrel or under the barrel is legal or not.

Now, make all guns like that illegal, and I'm sure that a sizeable number will go with civil disobedience. Why stop at a preban style? Load it up. Find auto sears. Whatever. But there will be a point of diminishing returns where the common gunowner, not just criminals, will find it impossible to obey all the gun laws. So they will mostly all be ignored. We'll all be criminals, which is the ultimate goal.

Note: I am not encouraging breaking the law. I am making a prediction.

And you are exactly right. The more restrictive the law, the lower the rate of compliance. There aren't enough JBT's on the planet to enforce an outright ban on all firearms.

"We have the momentum.
Keep up the pressure."
Diggler wrote it!
We will have to keep the pressure up for years to keep making progress.
Prediction I am afraid will be true.
The other alternatives we have will be to keep a cool head and
RUN FOR OFFICE.
As I've said before.
