Can I hand carry to an FFL in another state?

How would this scenario work out.

I'm thinking this would apply:

Q: To whom may an unlicensed person transfer firearms under the GCA?

A person may sell a firearm to an unlicensed resident of his State, if he does not know or have reasonable cause to believe the person is prohibited from receiving or possessing firearms under Federal law. A person may loan or rent a firearm to a resident of any State for temporary use for lawful sporting purposes, if he does not know or have reasonable cause to believe the person is prohibited from receiving or possessing firearms under Federal law. A person may sell or transfer a firearm to a licensee in any State. However, a firearm other than a curio or relic may not be transferred interstate to a licensed collector.

Hello friends and neighbors // I am on the SC/NC border, very different firearm sales laws but reciprocity for concealed carry.

I have let family/freinds in N.C. borrow a firearm if they are thinking about making a purchase of a similar firearm, but I have never done a cross border sale.

Your main problem might be transport in three states.
Always check/obey each states laws for transport. In fact I think some cities/counties have their own transport laws.
S.C. firearm in glove box or similar(not an open carry state)......N.C. firearm visible on seat beside you or on dash(open carry state). I don't know about Virginia or Maryland.

FFL sounds like a good guy, you have all the right forms, your sale sounds fine to me. Good luck

If you're following the proceedure specified in the Mcclure-Volkmer act (FOPA '86) while transporting that firearm you won't have any problems. Gun unloaded and cased or secured where it is not accessible to the occupants of the vehicle.

States may have less restrictive rules than that, but at a minimum, following the FOPA guidelines will keep you out of trouble in the tighter states. MD is the only one on your route likely to give you trouble -- and even then a handgun in a locked case in the trunk is legal provided you're going right to your brother's house, the range, or the dealer's shop.

The scenario is; Your giving a gun to your brother in a different state.

Who the hell's gonna know???

Well, that's one way of looking at it, but the other is: two folks committing federal felonies.

We at THR do not discuss or condone breaking of any laws, ever.

You are correct and please accept my apology.

Hey, it's a stupid law. Call your congressman, write letters, work to get the laws changed.

Until then ... sigh ... gotta live within the rules.
