The back of the 4473 has instructions/explanations on it. Did you read it? Basically, what you have to do to get your gun: have the FFL send the gun to an FFL in IL where it's legal to have a handgun (you understand some places in IL severely restrict guns, particularly handguns), fill out the 4473 there with your IL address on it and assuming you pass the NICS check you'll get your gun. Consider it an expensive lesson learned and go on with your life. If the FFL gave you your gun there he could have lost his license and maybe gone to prison, and you could have become a felon and would be unlikely to own a modern gun again. Be glad he didn't go through with the sale illegally. The ATF checks FFLs once a year typically and it would have been caught.
