I plan on going deer hunting for the first time this year. I need to buy a shotgun. I think I want the Remintgon 870 with the Cantilever scope mount. However, I don't initially want to buy a scope. Are there iron sights available that I can buy that will work on the cantilever rail? i'd like to see pictures if anyone has them.

Well, I think I will want a scope eventually but I want to try it this first season without. So I thought if there were iron sights available for the cantilever I could have either option.

Damn ... thats a lot of coin!

Why not just get a good used 870 somewhere and put a deerslayer barrel on it? That one comes with iron sights.

Plenty of other sources ... just the first one I found

I think it would take a lot more money to get a working iron sight set-up on a cantilever barrel, then a barrel with rifle sights, or a decent scope would cost.

The rear could be easy, just a clamp-on sight of some kind.

But the front would have to be raised up on something like an AR-15 front sight gas block to get it high enough to work.

Then you would probably knock it out of alignment the first day.

It's not a rifled barrel, but you might consider the express turkey gun. It has a 21" smooth bore vent rib barrel. A couple different companies make fiber optic sights that clamp to the vent rib.

Just an option if you prefer open sights.

You really shouldn't need a scope at shotgun ranges
He'll probably be using slugs. The scope probably isn't needed for slugs, but it could help, with both target identification and actually hitting the target.
