I tested a unique load with the mbc158 gr swc om 357 mag that was powder coated. The load shot fine but I had a lot of cartridges interfere with cylinder rotation
This was before shooting any of the 6 inserted in a cylinder.
Some of the cases were slightly protruding compared tp the others
And interfered with the cylinder rotation. This wasn't prairie dogging and I haven't shot any 38 spcls yet at the timelda
I think I should have seated a little deeper and roll crimped right next to the superior border of the cannelure.

You still can.

Just adjust the seating stem to seat a little deeper, and the crimp will roll into the crimp groove as it should have.

Initial setting should put the case mouth to the front of the crimp groove on the bullet before crimping.

However, it sounds to me like your bullet seating stem doesn't fit the bullets you are using.
Or they would all be the same length regardless.

Check that first.

I don't have a picture off hand, but 1.610" is the longest cartridge with said bullets that I have produced.

I think SAAMI length is listed as 1.590" as max COAL for the 357 magnum.

I am having a hard time figuring out exactly what the problem is and what you are asking, but here goes nothing. Sounds like you did not seat them to the right spot nor did you roll crimp them properly.

I don't have a pic of that bullet in a .357 case, but here are a couple of pics of properly seated and crimped lead bullets, and the that bullet would be no different.

If your cases are trimmed to the proper length, it is hard to believe the loaded rounds are too long for the cylinder if it is seated and crimped properly.

With proper neck tension and a nice roll crimp into the cannelure the remaining rounds in the cylinder shouldn't have the bullets creep forward out of the case when another is fired.

Thanks for the pics. I adjusted the seating stem midway through loading. With xtreme plated I place the crimp in the middle of the cannelure. As with the pics above it should have been below the start of the cannelure.

It's my first time using powder coated cast bullets. I still shot all of them. I fired the problem cartridges one by one or in twos instead of full cylinders. Extraction was normal. As for the load, it chronoed in the low 1200s.

Thanks for the reply Walkalong. I would like to find a .358 LSWC with a meplate like that. It is hard to tell what size the meplate is on any particular bullet by looking at images.
