I can't find anywhere, to include from savage, if the Savage Edge .223 can safely fire 5.56 ammo without damaging the gun. Any thoughts here would help!
the answer is a resounding NO! 5.56 is loaded to higher pressures than .223 and the throat a bolt action .223 chamber is cut differently than a AR or mini-14's. So firing a 5.56 in a bolt action would cause an increase in pressure in a case that already has higher pressure and either damage your rifle and possibly your face.
