Can we stop with the "porn" references?

Who posted that "Special Forces" thing??? Is that an attempt at a joke? It fails completely. That makes the porn thing seems like a fine thing in comparison...

That's where the irony and hypocrisy come in. The guy who started this thread complaining of the WORD "porn" not even the actual porn itself, (because it's just a bunch of pictures of guns) is the guy who initially posted that picture, thinking it was funny.

Credibility? All down the drain. Just like America's. :p
 
I agree with you George..What is the point in referring to pictures of guns that we love as porn? It's not porn and should not be referred to as porn.
It is simply a term that does not have a place in this forum and serves no useful purpose. Agreed to some it may seem silly to even give this a second thought, but I would not refer to pictures of things/people I love (and have respect for) as porn. Just my 2 cents worth...
 
I was going to post something like this yesterday. I think there were 3 forums that had 'porn' in the subject line.

wow... dam shame, that. I'm sure there will be an apology: we all make,say,do,post stupid things on the occasion, so he should be given the opportunity to apologize for something that left me/us speechless when I/we saw it...

Paco: I agree. People deserve second chances, to a point. Personally, I'm not offended by any of it, but I realize other people may be. I think the truth is the most important. If he thought it was funny at the time, then he should say that, and all is well and good. It's not like many of us haven't laughed at the misfortune of others at one time or another.

I'd rather just see folks use pics and pictures instead of "porn." I just prefer not to have to explain to my wife what I'm looking at. That and I agree with the point that this is the High Road forum and I'm sure many kids or younger adults may have access to it.

I'm not sure what's wrong with the pic George posted but I can be slow to get things sometimes.

On a ligher note, the Nurse who took care of my son and wife when he was born last summer came in the room and introduced herself by saying "Hi, my name is Porn."

It was late at night and I thought I heard wrong but sure enough making her repeat it two times didn't change it. She spelled it "Porne" and was from an Asian country. Anyway, that sure made my laugh.:)

Aren't "young adults" allowed to look at porn? I thought they were adults. Once you hit 18, you can go into any porn store around, or buy porn at the gas station.

ALso, the picture he posted was "special forces." The person in the picture was obviously "special".

Censorship sucks, as does "PC-ness".

This is just another cry to be more politically correct. If the term porn (or pr0n n 1337 5p34k) offends you, that's a problem you have with the word. There are many things, including links, that are posted here and are far worse than the word porn.

In the context used it simply refers to pictures that are meant to be admired.
 
I agree with George in that it has been done and is now old. Of course, we all have the things that bother us. Mine, all small letters in a post and folks that come to a gun board to troll their point of view and don't give a hoot about firearms. Oh.. and did I mention the folks that feed their posts. Oh well, we all have to live together on the board. You put up with me and I you.. but I still prefer the company here at THR.

The wives watch you take your own pictures of your guns and post them but, she is so stupid as not to know this all about guns?


Go ahead, find a reason guys. But don't blame it on your wives! I bet they would all be insulted to find out your blaming this on them! I give them much more credit than that.

And as to the term "Gun Porn", doesnt bother me cuz its toungue in cheek...however if it does bother more than a few members we should cut it out..ya dont smoke in yer neighbors car ifin he dont want ya to do ya?

Let me sum this up... the forum is called "The High Road" for a reason. If you don't understand what that term means I suggest looking it up. If you want to take the low road, take it.... but take it someplace else.


And by the way, I do play ball with my kids, and take them shooting and take them on all sorts of little adventures. If I want to educate them about firearms and what a certain gun looks like, I don't want to have educate them on the filthy orgins of your stupid new photography slang.

I don't care if you look at pornagraphy, it just will not be referenced here. This isn't being "PC" either. Look up that term too, because someone seems to think I'm pushing a PC agenda. That is untrue. Look at my own website if you doubt that. This isn't PC... this is just enforcing a minimal degree of propriety.

If you don't like it, there are other forums where you might feel more comfortable... like Hard Core Talk dot com or something.

Sure, I can agree with that wholeheartedly, because it
it cheapens this 'high road' we're supposed to cultivate.

However, mentioning "porn" doesn't directly insult anyone's person, least of all the weak.

That 'Special Forces' photo you posted...
It pretends at humor, but at the expense of the weak and defenseless,
--the 'joke' was cowardly/gutless AND low-road.

Still, it's already been said we all have our missteps,
and the trick is to help each other avoid it in the future.
Take it under advisement that what you posted was very low-road for many of us.
I'm sure the others will take it under advisement that "porn" pr0n" and the like fits a similar bill.

This isn't a "He who is without sin" debate. I've also not posted that picture again have I? I also don't post that picture in several current threads for people just glancing through to see, have I? And that topic is neither here nor there and has nothing to do with this one.
Or are you being contrary just for the sake of contradiction? Regardless, I care not... but from one with such a hightened sence of enlightenment and sensitivity, one would think you would be in (as the sideways hat wearing rapper from limp bizkit says) "agreeance".

I thought it was clear that I was in "agreeance"
with your wish to end this endless porn pr0n referencing.

Utimately you're advising us on what is suitable for The High Road,
based on the past actions of others.

I and others are offering you a similar courtesy.
Your past action is still there for all to reference because...
It's still there.

Again, take it under advisement.
