OK, I've always believed that you can't have too many firearms. You can own as many as you want/afford. I'm kind of thinking differently now...

We just moved about 100 miles, and I now think you could own too many toys. Due to security/paranoia, I decided to move them separately from everything else. This gave me time to change the locks at the new house. I ended up moving them myself between 10:00pm and 1:00am. I filled up a Honda Pilot up with the gun safes and such. That was shocking! :what: And this does not include the ammo. I moved the ammo with everything else.

Has anyone else gone through this? This has cured me of wanting another SKS any time soon. I'm kind of afraid of what I'm going to inherit from my dad.

I'll be off-line until Tuesday evening (7/8/08). I look forward to hearing what you have to say! :D

You can't have too many but you can spend too much money on guns.

Send me some of yours if you feel badly about it.

<<Smirk>> Kidder you! Get us going like that. Thank-goodness I wasn't drinking a coffee when I read that title! I don't have enough firearms...yet. Some day I will.

If someone asks you how many guns you own, and you truly don't know unless you go look, you have too many.

BTW- I have enough that I have to think about it, but I still know without looking.

Well, I have "enough" and don't shoot them all - and have C&R rifles I've never shot. My physical limitations pretty much let me shoot pistol ony but I still have some that haven't been shot in a long time. I've recently sold one revolver and gave away a Colt HBAR that I never liked.

So yes I have enough but will still buy handguns when I get the chance. Too many? No. :) We needed professional help to move my safe and there's still room for more.

Of course you can have too many firearms.

See: law of diminishing marginal utility.

Luckily, I guess, I haven't reached my cutoff point yet. :)

too

I had to buy a 20 ft container to hold my milsurps and all the ammo, along with a bunch of safes I bought at the shot show. Was planning on selling more than I did, but ended up using half of them.
Its easier, the wife doesn't really know what I have, I did insure it with collectors, if something happens to me she'll find out. I just hope she reads the info and doesn't allow any of my friends to tell her what everything is worth.
Oh well wont' be my problem.
ha
happy fourth.

It's possible to have too many cheap guns....for instance if you had 30 guns that were each under $300 that could be grounds for possible psychiatric help. On the other hand one can never have too many high end quality firearms.

The difference is, one person is a junk collector....the other is a steward of quality heirlooms.

(Rembrandt ducks for cover from the incoming.....heehee)

No way. If you think you have too many guns just consider that you may have to loan/give some to like-minded individuals who don't have enough if there is ever a need for a revolution/protection from foreign invasion/etc situation...Same goes for ammo.

Well, truth be told, you can only use one rifle at a time...I'd say any more than one or two is too many for me. AR-15 and AK-47, you're pretty much covered.

Anyone who fills up a Honda Pilot with his guns CANNOT POSSIBLY have enough guns.....

That is like having a starter collection.........

That is like saying you used a Radio-Flyer to haul your possessions.....

You need a 1-ton truck, with a Turbo diesel, and a fifth wheel hitch to carry your stuff before you can begin to think or feel you have a lot of guns......

Ahem=Im told the differece between a man with 7 Kids and the Man with 7 Guns -is -----The man with 7 guns -WANTS ANOTHER!!!!!!!!!

If your SHTF Bug out plan involves more firearms than you can fit in your vehicle, you have too many on the list, If your SHTF plan involves being the armory for your neighborhood, then those 10 cases of Mosin Nagants don't represent too many firearms, you might not have enough.

If your collection controls you, then you might have too many.

If you just happen to have enough that you loath the idea of moving them again, then you only have too many if you plan on moving around a lot.

If you have so many firearms, you are considering hiring a curator to help you catalog and database them, then you might have too many.

Too many is just a function of logistics. If your collection gets big enough you can sell a portion to fund professional movers to move it next time.

IMO

IMO, if you are basing your opinion on how much of a hassle it is to move the items one time, the reasoning is, IMO, poor. But, you are certainly entitled to it. Some folks, myself included, have no problem with and are more than willing to spend the time, money, and effort to accomodate what they enjoy and love to do. When a move is needed, this chore is a given and factored into the change and not considered an additional job.

To me, having too many firearms is like saying having too much air.
