I know nothing about the Canill brand other than they are expensive. What's the reason for the price?

Comparable to what? Every one I see in shops is priced up there with the higher stuff close to $1k

The only model they have over $800 is the TP9 Executive and Combat models that both have Salient Arms barrels/triggers and also include a Vortex red dot for around $850.

The basic TP9 and SF Elite are around $400, the TP9SFX is $499 new. Sounds like the shops you're going to are a little greedy.

I paid $635 for my Rival which is their newest model and one of the higher end versions.

My Mete SFX, bought late Jan., I paid $615 at LGS in NJ. with tax.

i bought a rival darkside a few weeks ago and read posts on the canik fanatik forum. there were posts regarding ejection problems when new due to stiff springs
one recommendation was keeping the slide locked back while wating for the first range session. i was dry firing mine to feel the trigger a bit and left the slide locked the night before and had no issues with factory 115 gr and my 147 gr reloads
I do this with all my pistols, Caniks seem to benefit the most. A the SFX group pistols benefit from locking the slide back for a couple weeks. My rival had about 15 failures the first time I shot it; slide back for a couple weeks fixed it 100%.

I've only put 200 through my Rival so far, with the WWB and cheap Cabela's brand 115gr it hasn't malfunctioned yet. The only Canik I've had that's needed some breaking in of the recoil spring is the sub compact. It'd feed a whole magazine fine, but stove pipe on empty through the first 75 rounds or so.

With all my Caniks I've run a few boxes of 124grn ammo thru them and stored them locked open for a few months. Zero issues when I've done this. You can also call or email Century Arms and they will send you a lighter mainspring free of charge, and should resolve any issues as well. Im sure others have said the same thing.

I picked up my Rival Saturday and put a little over 100rds thru it right out-of the box. Shot standard Blazer 115gr ammo. No issues. That said no plans to buy anymore Caniks. I have a standard Tp9sfx, a Whiteout, and now my Rival. Now I'd be tempted if they made a metal framed SFX version 20220423_131502.jpg 20220423_170123.jpg

The Rival is fantastic. My favorite full size 5" striker, and Caniks Elite Combat is my favorite compact striker. I've owned or shot most offerings out there... from Sigs to Glocks, HKs, Walthers, CZs, Ruger, S&W, Springfield, Beretta, Archon... etc...
