Hello folks. Recently Canik has captured my attention. many claim it is a top notch CZ clone or variant. I don’t really intend to carry the stingray C concealed, it would be more of a plinking and home and car defense side arm. I am on the fence of purchasing this so to speak and I wanted to know what kind of CZ accessories will work with the Canik stingray C, for example magazines, sight, and replacement parts if need be. I know that proper maintenance is the greatest way of extending the life of any pistol but every now and then things break. I just turned 21 a few months back and this will be my first handgun:D purchase if there is an aftermarket backing behind this pistol.

If I were you I would save up and buy a Para Ordnance. I think you can get lots of parts and accessories for that, plus it will help you hone your tap, rack, bang skills.

I would not count on any parts fitting. But from what I understand it is a decent product. My only concern is parts availablity and resale value. I have noticed one for sale on a couploe of forums, for a few months now and no luck. I would tell you to spend another $100 or $150 and get a reall CZ. I have 2 75b 9mm, one polycoat and one glossy blued, and they are excellent. You can find them for under $500 if you search.

I have a CZ 75B as well as two Caniks, one being the Stingray-C. VZ grips for the CZ compact will fit the Stingray-C like a glove and CZ compact magazines work just fine in mine. I've not changed the sights and the gun is accurate and reliable.

How did this one go from a Canik / CZ thread to a Para?

Talk about totally different pistols.

Thanks for the info. considering two pistols. They are the canik and the glock i like the idea that the steel of the canik will be more durable than a polymerand hopefully reduce whip. But considering glock track record for reliability and considering it's modularity. which would be the best pistol for the money.

This place will have the answers: http://www.czfirearms.us/index.php?board=27.0 It's hard to find much on Canik but that question you ask I just ran across there in the past few days.

From what I understand there are only a few parts in the Canik that aren't swappable with the CZ. It's like 4 or 5 parts. Some have to be "massaged" in from what people are saying who are changing parts around.

I have a CZ75b and a Canik Shark FC and Stigray-C on the way and if I had to do it over I would still get the CZ first if it was a first gun purchase. The first gun should be one that you keep forever and a Glock just seems like buying a Honda Civic. It gets the job done and could be better if you put some money into it but in the end it is just like the other ones out there. A nice CZ just screams family heirloom. I put a bunch of aftermarket parts in the CZ and it is crazy accurate and has had zero issues for thousands of rounds. From what I understand the Caniks are as good and some describe better than the original CZ and CZ patterned guns they are cloned from. I still am looking for anything bad about the Caniks and I am having trouble finding it online at all. If you have shot a Glock and shot a CZ and like both then just toss a coin and pick one as likely you will end up with both later anyway. For plinking and home and car defense side arm as you say, I think the Canik with a bunch of cajungunworks goodies has the edge. The first gun I ever shot was a G19 and I shot really well but still went a CZ later and don't think I ever will get a Glock. The CZ75b I have is a polished stainless that looks too good to shoot and I baby it. That has about $1000 into it. The Caniks, $320 and $375, were so I had a CZ patterned gun I didn't have to worry about getting scratched and also so I could really mess with refinishing it and doing fun stuff that I wouldn't on a $1k gun. In the end I think the Caniks will be the ones I used most and therefore will be the best money spent.

Since you are 21 and may start to carry soon, both Glocks and the Caniks are big and wide guns so keep that in mind. For my first gun, it was my carry gun so it had to be small to hide in t-shirt and shorts. That is a Kahr CW9 that is diminutive compared to any 9mm CZ or Glock except the G26, which is still way fat.

thanks for all the great info impureclient! i gues i am going with a canik. i have a pretty good sized frame to i don't think the size will be too big an issue.

If it's a Canik and you are looking at the Sharks, any chrome barrel versions are seemingly nonexistent for sale right now. That's what I was after at first but settled on the blued Shark-FC.
http://www.buckeyearmory.com/ has all of them available right now for $375 -380 and after extensive researching on Google, that seems to be the cheapest. If it's a Stingray-c in chrome,
http://www.classicfirearms.com/ has that for $320. The blued one is $380, which is odd as usually the always chrome is more, but I'm not sure that's the cheapest online for the Stingray-c in the blued.
I just bought the Stingray as the price was so way low and well, that's the only reason I could come up with. The Shark-fc is getting the full works from CZcustom and cajungunworks and then I'm polishing it all up inside.
The goal with that one is to replace the CZ high polish S.S. for my fun gun. Even after throwing $300-400 more into that it will still be much less than what I put into the CZ. It helps these Caniks are almost half price of a CZ.
From what I have read though, many people are thoroughly satisfied with the Caniks out of the box except the grips so adding all those parts is just to squeeze out more accuracy and make it easier to shoot.

According to some web sites the black model is still chrome just in a black look. I am not sure how they do this but that is what it says. I plan on getting the desert tan cerakoted model from j&g sales. I just hope the cerakote is as resilient as people say. I plan on running it hard.

I bought the Canik Stingray-C and couldn't be more pleased. It is a very nice pistol for the money. Very accurate, chromed barrel, nicely machined. The CZ compact grips fit it (as mentioned) and so do the magazines (also mentioned). I wouldn't be reluctant at all to purchase another.
