Hi all newbie here looking for info on a canjar trigger.I have a winchester 52 with a canjar trigger in it. My problem is i have to pull the trigger with the bolt open to set the trigger then close the bolt and fire. Then open bolt pull trigger close bolt and fire. Is this how it is suppose to work? Thanks for any help

The only Canjars I have been around were single set triggers. I don't have one now, but the way they worked was to close the bolt normally, then push forward on the trigger shoe to set it. Then you got a very light pull which was adjustable.

No that is not correct . Canjar trigger should work as every other trigger does . It sounds like the trigger has had some one turning screws in or out or both and did not understand how to properly set it . Is it free in the trigger gaurd ,is it a set trigger ?

It also may need to have the cocking piece ground back slightly to catch the trigger sear when the bolt is opened . But cannot diagnose with the information you have given. Have a gunsmith look at it that is good with triggers .

Canjar trigger should work as a normal trigger whether it is a set trigger or not . You could get a standard Canjar trigger or a set Canjar trigger.

The set system is only in the trigger shoe . a standard Canjar trigger is exactly the same as the set except for the "trigger shoe ". A set trigger should work as a single stage trigger or if you want push the shoe forward to engage the single set system but you do not have to.

I personally have not seen a Canjar for a 52 but have used the single sets as already mentioned on center fire rifles. Are you sure it is a Canjar, not a Kenyon(sp?).
