Just mounted a new Vortex Crossfire II on a new Howa HCR. Put my laser bore sight in just to have a look and get it close before heading to the range.

It was low and right. Was able to grab the windage and click right over to proper place, quick and easy.

Grabbed the elevation knob and started turning. No movement. Starting turning the opposite direction, watching closely. No movement.

Even tried this with my dot on a barn 50 yards away. No movement.

Thought maybe my rings were too tight or something, so loosened them almost completely. Still no movement.

Any ideas? Am I shipping back to Vortex?

Unfortunately that’s most likely unless you purchased from a local retailer who is kind enough to exchange it for you.

Thanks, Skylerbone. That was my suspicion. Just boxed it up to go back to Brownells.
Vortex has amazing CS. I had a crap champion bipod snap on me and slam the rifle to the ground in which knocked powder coating off inside the scope. I called them and got a return label on their dime and had my scope back within a week. For some reason stupid FedEx set it up where someone had to be home to sign for it and they kept coming in the morning and said they would attempt it one more time and it was going back to vortex. Only way around that was have Vortex redo the shipping label and call FedEx stating a signature was NOT required. The Vortex rep called me right back and said FedEx was instructed to leave it on the porch.

Same thing happened to me with a Leupold VX-3 1.75-6x32 except it was the windage turret. Also when turning the windage knob, little white flakes that looked like dandruff started falling out of the turret. Sent it to Leupold and when they received it I called and asked them to change the reticle from a heavy duplex to a German #4, because that scope didn’t come in German #4. I was told since they had to take the scope apart anyway and to help compensate for my trouble, there would be no charge. Got the scope back three weeks later with the turret fixed and the new reticle. That’s what I call customer service.

Say what you want about Vortex, and I’m not a fan of their scopes, they do have good CS and will either fix your scope or send you a new one.
