i bought my wasr 10 a few weeks back and went to the range. i notice i was hitting where to the left after changing distance from sighting in. just a few days ago i came across a thread about "watch out for canted sights" made me check mines and yes it is slightly off center by a few degrees, something i would not trust on when making a precise shot. i tapped the two pins on the sight out but cant get it to move. seems the sight is welded to the muzzle.... how can i fix this problem??

I was shooting to the left with my new WASR. The sight was fairly straight, however the rear sight notch was off-center to the left noticably!

Notch was skimpy too. Like a hacksaw cut. I centered the notch on the sight blade with a thin file, and fixed my problem.

I do have just a slight amount of gas chamber cant.

The front sight is adjustable for windage, may require a sight pusher. A friend of mine bought a SAR 1 rifle a few years ago with a noticable cant to the front sight base. A sinple task to shift the sight over with a skinny brass punch.

yes it appears to have a slight gas tube cant too but putting 300 rounds through it with no problem i am not worried about it, is the front sight i'm trying to straighten up, well i punched the two pins out and tried twisting by hand, wouldn't go. tried putting a flat plate on the sight and tapping the whole sight, still wouldn't move. i read somewhere that you can grease it up with wd40 and perhaps torch it to break loose, is this a good idea? again i notice two welds connecting the sight to the muzzle so i stopped in case i bent the barrel. any ideas?

Do a google search on Romanian AK 47 rifles. Should be able to find a sight dedicated to the SAR and WASR rifles that has a section on repairing sight cant.

I don't recall the name of the site, but should be easy to find.

You can't just adjust the front sight adjuster a bit to sight in the rifle?
