My teachers only ever said don't run with scissors. They should have been more specifc. I keep running with my knife out and these bullies keep tripping me. Mom says "you'll poke an eye out with that" Let's hope she's not right.
Sorry not very funny. I couldn't come up with a short funny way to say what I wanted to say.
What's the definition of modern? The Nepalese stuff is still made by hand. Kukuris have, to my knowledge, always come in different lengths to serve different roles (farmer's tool, soldier's knife, etc). There are companies churning out cheap steel/stainless kukuris and a few higher end machined knifemakers like Cold Steel.
There are several military issued kukuris to my knowledge. Some are plain jane while there are ornamental/ceremonial kukuris which have some fancier fittings on them. 12" is a popular standard length but I've seen some really big kukuris several feet in length and some small cute ones. The modified Nepalese I own measures 10-1/2" in length by KhukuriHouse but I don't think it's standard issue. The "Camouflage Special " from Khukuri House
I guess I should have been more specific abour "Old" and "New".
I was under the impression that the WWII era Ghurkas had a standard issue size. Is that not true?
Following the same logic (there's that word again, never good when applied to military) I presumed that any modern issue blades would also have a standard.
"Maybe if I can chop this blank-fire adapter into little bits and cram them down the barrel one by one, I can fire them at this SOB of a drill sarge..."
