You better use eye protection. I heard this morning of a shooter who had a case flying straight to the eye like it happened to me. He was fortunately wearing protective goggles.

That came after I have had two calls from people who have tested the pistols they just received and experienced the same malfunctions I experienced with the batch of pistols I tested..

I guess your next lenses will be one of the space aged plastics out there ??? I stopped were'n glass about 10 years ago and got some hardcoated plastic that have held up great for me. I am a carpenter and just wipe them on my t-shirt or paper towel and they have held up with no damage for years . And lighter. Good you did not get any glass in your eyes.

Uh. You should always wear eye protection.
Yes, but if this is going to be your carry gun and your bedside gun then you might not have eye protection when you need it for real.

A gun that throws brass in your face is not a gun that I want to carry.

This glass is a Rodenstock specially tempered glass. Costs an arm and a leg (300 $ + each) but they are really light and resistant, scratch proof and have received a special treatment that makes spending time on screens very comfortable.

I had lost the habit to receive brass on the forehead..

Thats very scary to me as i do wear impact resistant "shatter proof" prescription glasses also. But they are the smaller rectangular type that barely cover the whole eye.
Ive had a round jump behind them and sit and roast my cheek while i hurriedly sat my gun down and then swatted my glasses off my face.
But that must be some seriously powerful impacts to break that type of plastic.

Im sure it can be fixed or adjusted out, But that depends on how responsive the company is. If it were Glock they would say "Your head is too slow in moving out of the way of the brass" and then quietly make adjustments in production.

I've had brass hit me in the face hard enough to leave a mark, but that looks like some serious impact. Not cool. Eye protection is a must with all guns.

"I want a Caracal pistol!" "No son, you'll put your eye out!" :D

My concern is the force with which these spent cases are being flung at the shooters face. Breaking tempered glass is not easy.

Hmmm, most pistols I have shot eject the case behind me and to the right.

Absolutely! +1 for carry application/HD night stand concerns. Any pistol/load that sends hot spent cases to your face will be an issue for these situations. Did this happen with the same ammunition or was there an ammunition change?

If it did with same ammo, maybe ejector and/or extractor need to be reworked so spent cases eject properly. Call Caracal and let them know?

Not good. As pointed out, in a defensive situation it's not possible to grab your safety glasses.

Seems like there are some bugs that need to be worked out of this new UAE offering. I'm going to wait and watch.

It's times like this I appreciate my own personal prohibition on being a beta tester.

Wow. That sucks. I also recommend getting polycarbonate lenses on your next pari of glasses, as well as getting the over-glasses safety glasses so that if this happens again, it just destroys the $5 safety glasses and keeps your $250 regular glasses intact.

that's what you get for buying a weapon made by the United Arab Emirates. Take that you western infidel!

The UAE is one of the most Westernized and modern Arab countries. In addition, this pistol was designed by Europeans, and is manufactured by Asian workers. The only thing UAE about it is the executive board and factory location.

It doesn't matter where a firearm comes from. It matters how it is used.

That was my first thought as well.

Unlike some of the xenophobia demonstrated in response to this pistol, I think the comment you were responding to was just a joke. Maybe I'm wrong though.

I have had my glock 17 fling brass at my face, my Para p12, and my Dan Wesson pm-7 10mm.

Unless its EVERY time or several times per mag, im not worried.

i think this is getting some bad press for something that happens with every brand.

I'll still buy it when it comes to the US!

Wow, thanks for posting. Like many others, I've had brass hit me in the face before, but I doubt it was every flung hard enough to break glass.

on 1911 type pistols, it is fairly easy to send the brass exactly where you want it. Buy an oversized ejector and tune it by filing it, you can get the angle of ejection you wish.
I used my experience on 1911 to partially solve the problem on the Caracal pistol I tuned.
Plus some work on the extractor to solve the FTF.

hi guys
im andy in italy and this is my first post here

i used a glock 19 every monday morning for 1 year in combat shooting
then i bought the caracal c with quick sights 1 year ago..
and i started to use it every week end since last april, when i found a holster ( i bought a serpa )
well i never had a brass in my eyes, or face or body. i shoot almost 300 rounds every week end...and the eyection of the brass is clean and on the side.
and.. since i bought the caracal.. my glock has never came out the safe box....

i apologize for my english
andy

Welcome aboard. A lot of us dont practice the bst English either.

I'll consider the SC version if it ever comes to the USA.

Hello Andy and welcome to the forum.
Your English is just fine. It sounds as though you are favourably impressed wtih yout Caracal.

thanks guys

yes im really impressed
well...first contact wasnt so good
i bought it last year..
i was atracted by this new quick sight.... i saw it at the EXA , the most important gun show in italy, third in the word after the shot show and the iwa in germany.
i was impressed by the grip and the sight..so when it was released, i bought it.
there was not extra mags apart the 2 that came with the pistol, and no holster.
so i bought but i cannot use during my training cause i needed the holster.. so glock 19 was my favourite.
when i tryed the first time at the firing range, in slow aim....the quick sight was terrible...
impossible to aim.. and to understand how to aim...
and the trigger was really too light compared with glock.. the pistol seem to fire alone when i touch the trigger..
so i left it in the safe box and i never used..
last april at exa blackhawk presented the serpa holster for the pistol.
im using the serpa with the glock too.. so i ordered and bought..
then..extra mags cames...so.. ok.. was time to try this new pistol downrange....

well... after some hours...the time to know how to aim .. the quick sight become deadly.. incredible fast..
the trigger very good.. the reset is a bit long.. but the trigger have 1 weight from the start to the end of the fire cicle.. so u dont need to feel the reset as with the glock.
the line of the barrel help during the recoil, and the muzzle dont climb as with the glock in fast double tape.
the grip is better than the glock, the pistol is slim, compared with my gen3 glock 19.
maybe with the new gen4 with interchangable grips, the glock can be slim too...
since last april, i always used the caracal every week.
now im able to shoot a bill drill in 1.50 sec and bbh from holster under 1.40 sec
the glock is a bit slower... well in my hands of course
what i prefer from glock was the plastic mags.. i dont like mags in steel...
