I have seen these around on www.Gunbroker.com and in the back of various gun rags. You remove your pistols slide(normally a 1911 or a Glock are the ones I have seen) and install the pistol frame and mechanisim into this carbine upper.

They look neat, and the though of converting a G20 into a 10mm Carbine is...intrigueing.

Just looking to see if anyone had any positive experience with these, or if they are just a gimmick...

I went to gunbroker and saw the "Tanker" carbine complete with "Tanker" stamped on the side of the receiver. Such a "rare" gun for only $500. It's not a Fed-Ord conversion (they didn't have the "fore-end") and I'm not sure who did this one, but I can assure you that it didn't come out of the government Springfield Armory.

Lemme see if I can go back and find that conversion.

Mech Tech CCU = Fun

I picked up one a few years ago for my 1911.

Well made, but a little hard to clean. It's a blast at the range though. I put a cheapie scope on it, a lot of guys use red dots. Pick up a little clip on bipod and have fun.

That extra barrel length makes shooting a .45 a whole new ball game at 50 to 100 yards. I picked up a couple of 15 round mags for mine at a gun show and that makes it look really "bad". (At least scary enough to attract the attention of a couple of cops shooting at the other end of the range. They wanted to know what kind of gun it was and I wound up letting them both put a mag worth downrange.)

Warning: You will go through a lot of ammo since other folks will want to give it a try.

check out the 45ACP Wilson carbine conversion kit.........this one might be really accurate with that heavy SS barrel.............
