Carl Gustaf 30-06 ID help(pictures)

Here are some pictures that might help. I still haven't come up with anything on this one. I hope I haven't stumped you guys.

Well, I think I know what it IS, I just didn't know you could DO that!

It sure looks like a Swedish Carl Gustav small ring Mauser action. Without a date, I don't know if it is from a 94 carbine, 96 rifle, or 38 short rifle.

All Expert Sources are opposed to converting a small ring action to .30-06. I guess the Swedes had more faith in their steel, eh? (I had a CG 63 .308 target rifle on a 96 action and it did ok.)

Yep, very early after WW2, the Swedes used leftover military M96 actions to make some sporting rifles in larger calibers. It's not action strength that's the problem, it's how gas is vented in the event of a casehead bursting- the 96 is not nearly so well adapted as the model 98.

Well, I will be, as they say, dingdonged. I was pretty sure a postwar Carl Gustafs in .30-'06 would be their new action, but that is an ex-military with the date ground off. Of course we don't know who built it or where.

Actually, I think the Swedish 96 would be the only pre-98 action I would trust at those pressure levels.

This may be way off but I found something about FFV-Carl Gustaf rifles manufactured in the 1970's after Husqvarna quit making them. Possibly a 1900 series. The description kinda matches but I am very ignorant about these guns.

Carl Gustaf 30-06

I have a rifle very similar to this. Same make, but not model. It is not a leftover M96 action it is the new M98 action built for the 30-06.

After very little reseach and thought, I've concluded that the rifle you have there is a very neat rifle. How much did you spend on it?
