Hello, i prefer to run carrying handles on my 2 AR instead of optics and a BUIS, the carry handles fit my needs as i dont want to go with optics at this time. My problem is i have two detachable carry handles and they work well but the knobs that you use to tighten them are oversized to say the least, anyone know of replacement ones that are smaller and less likely to catch on clothing while being carried?

It might be a little late for this....

But if you prefer to use the carry handle sights, why did you buy a flat top rifle?

He said he doeesn't want optics AT THIS TIME. I had the same problem and just used regular nuts in place of the knobs. The carry handle is not removable without tools, but no need to take it off regularly anyway. The nuts I used were the adjuster nuts off a cheap quick release scope mount.

Ya I didn't want to limit my options, plus noveske doesnt make upper with carry handles

Hey Shagmcnasty any chance I could see a picture? Really would help me out

You're gonna need to remove the locking knobs, they are tight taking off but do come completely off(a big flat screwdriver or vice grips/channel locks work well). After the knobs are off take the handle to the hardware store and you shold be able to find nuts to thread on the locking studs. I no longer have that particular rifle so I can't provide pics, sorry.

Not all carry handles have the knobs staked on, hopefully yours are not. I like the big knobs myself but can see how they could get in the way.

in police work, they'd call that a clue :)

you know, they make non-folding rear iron sights w/o the whole carry handle. they're low profile, if that's what you're after

If it were me, I'd replace the knobs with black oxide finished, washer based 12 point nuts. Will look the cleanest and not have sharp edges.

I suspect your studs are threaded 1/4-28, but certainly could be something else, including metric. Take 'em with you.

Ya, I assume your talking about the LMT one that is just the back part of carry handle :barf: I like carry handles for a variety of reasons but mostly becuase i dont plan on going with optics currently so why not run a stable primary sight, not just a BUIS or a Non-Folding Iron Sight.
