Carry in NYC

I am researching carry in NYC(i dont live there,i am just curious),and I hear the only people with CCW were people like Donald Trump and Joan Rivers,is that true.And are the only ones with guns in NYC cops and celebrities.Does Micheal Bloomberg carry.

i go to school in NYC. i've heard the ultra-elite status requierment for getting a liscense there too, but im not sure how accurate it is. i know its at least 250$ bucks to apply and if granted it's a 5 year renewable liscense pending on your continued justification of the permit.

Of course he doesn't he's too civilized.

But you can bet he is surrounded by a few NYPD gorilla's with Uzi's . . . . just like Rosy O'Donnel - can't have the commoners carrying but for them, well their lives are so much more important to society than yours or mine, and they're so famous - can you blame them for having bodyguards?

And in answer to the question, it was impossible ten plus years ago for a commoner to get a carry permit and they made you jump through crazy hoops to get a target permit.

My understanding now is that is is completely impossible.

It may be impossible to get a carry permit if you are a commoner but if I had a buck for all the Bad Guys that do carry, I could afford the "cost of admission".

I heard it is not hard to get a permit if you are famous,but I did hear Rush Limbaugh talk about trying to get a permit for a gun( when he lived in NYC)and he said it was hard.THEY PROBABLY MADE IT HARD FOR HIM BECAUSE HE IS A CONSERVATIVE.

I believe that Mayor Blomberg does. He is notorious for being able to side step metal detectors as do other high level city politicians who CC. The media has actually aired this footage in the past.

The Sullivan Law allows for carry if you can show reasonable cause. The only problem is if you are not rich and famous you have no cause and your paperwork goes into the spin cycle for eternity. I sincerely wish that someone would somehow engage this law in court and take it all of the way.

reasonable cause depends on the judge - in NJ you'd have to show that you were assaulted in the past and that for some reason completely out of your control, you are still in danger.

Now remember, out of your control is not I work late nights at the quickie mart or live in abad neighborhood . . . . you'd be told to get another job or move.

Its worse in NYC.

I had a target license in NYC when I lived there, and I had to jump thru plenty of hoops to get that. A carry license was out of the question unless (a) you owned a business with lots of cash involved (b) you were a cop or former cop. Those were the official reasons anyway, but I've heard that Donald Trump and Howard Stern have carry licenses.

There are a few gun shops in NYC, they mostly serve the cops (lots of cops are avid shooters, the club I belonged to was probably 50% LEO).
