I did; and was asked to once as best man; Detonics MK VII in IWB, Kimber Custom Aluminum Stainless in SOB. Some of the guests did their usual. Sept 2001 in Ky.

More food for thought.

When you get married, you send out dated invitations with RSVPs that have your address on them (or that of a close friend/family member). It's a low-tech version of FourSquare, the online Twitter application that lets you announce where you are (i.e. not at home) to whomever cares to follow your info.

Most folks take their honeymoon immediately following their wedding.

Not to sound paranoid, but something to consider when your attention is focused on the Big Day--are you leaving your home and collections safe?

I don't know if there are stats available on honeymoon burglaries, but it does happen.

Common sense.

Some years ago, a couple of two-bit thugs decided to stick up a wedding reception and take off with the wedding presents and what ever cash the happy couple and guests had on them. They didn't know that the wedding was of two police officers and, needless to say, most of the guests were also cops.

Two seconds after the bozos announced a stickup, there were about 40 guns pointed at them. Even the bride hiked up her skirt and hauled a .38 Chiefs Special out of an ankle holster. The uninvited wedding guests went to jail, without even a toaster to keep them warm.

No.

When you carry, you need to be able to devote your full attention to your environment to ensure situational awareness. Your wedding day doesn't allow this, your mind is too divided.

I don't carry when I'm playing a gig in a club. The performance requires too much of my attention.

If you will be leaving for the honeymoon directly from the reception, as many couples do, what are you going to do with the gun? This is especially troublesome if your destination is somewhere where you can't have a gun at all.

My wife and I joked about having a wedding sniper. He would be hidden on top of the gazebo we were getting married in. If either my mother or her mother got out of hand, he'd take them out with a tranquilizer. :)

Remember the scene from The Godfather, where the two men are eyeing the bride's gift bag thing, wanting to steal it? Well, lets just say that wouldn't happen at mine.

BTW, thanks for the info on the best man's duty was to protect the bride and guests. I'll have to be sure to pick well. But I am thinking too far ahead in the future. I like my freedoms!

I did and mentioned it in here before some ware, had my seacamp in my tux pocket. Wife knew, no problem. We were spending the night at the hotel so why not.
