I am heading to AZ next thursday. I will be flying from MT to Phoenix and was thinking of taking one of my pistols along. The only information I could find was that my MT CCW *may* be valid there. If not, how does the PD in Tempe and Phoenix feel about open carry?

My wife thinks we are going down for a wedding, but the real reason is that I have a delta that has been living with Ted Yost for a few months, and it is time it got a visitor from home!! If the stars align, and all is good in the universe, it may be ready to come home with me. So, I may go with one and come home with two.

If you had only 1 day to visit the area, what would be on your must see list? We get in one day, visit relatives and sightsee one day, and then a wedding the next. Then back to the airport to leave that sweltering area for the coolness of the MT mountains. I would like to hit one or two good gunshops, if they exist. I am looking for a used 220 Swift, or possibly a 22-250. Any good recommendations?

Open carry

Visited AZ last year. Didn't see much open carry, but in Sedona the guides for the Jeep trips were an exception. They were outfitted in cowboy gear and carried openly. I chatted a bit with one and asked if they were carrying their Peacemakers loaded. Guy laughed and said, "kinda useless if they weren't loaded." I had flown out and didn't take a firearm with me, but wished I had gone to the trouble. It would be a real thrill to be able to carry openly as opposed to concealed. It tells the world what you believe in, and for a RKBA enthusiast, a rare treat. At least if you don't live there. :)

Yep. One of the reasons I sometimes carry openly in Colorado is that it's more comfortable; I also believe America would be a happier, safer, saner nation if more people saw law-abiding citizens keeping and bearing arms openly, legally, and peaceably.
