Hello.

I am thinking about carrying a rifle in the back of my truck (Chevy Blazer). However, im not sure whether or not I can legally do this.

Does anyone know the laws about carrying a rifle in trucks of vehicles?

Also, whats the age to possess a rifle in TN? Im not quite old enough to carry a handgun, and im pretty sure its 18 to purchase but whats the age to possess a rifle, both at home and at the range?

Thanks!

Also, what age is it to possess and carry a handgun, loaded if legal?

Thanks again!

In Tennessee, one can legally transport an UNLOADED long gun if 18 years or older in a vehicle. To carry a loaded handgun in this state, you must be 21 years old and posess a valid TN Handgun Carry Permit. Currently, it is not legal to carry a loaded long arm in any vehicle, even with a Handgun carry Permit.

it's my understanding that back in the 80s, before the whole pistol carry permit thing, TN's laws were based on "intent". I'm not sure how the permit law affected that though, although it only applies to pistols and not truck guns.
