Your favorite "truck gun"?

An old Winchester 94 30-30 (mid 70's vintage with the pot metal rec) was beat up pretty good when I got it, front sight gone, mag tube bent, so I cut the barrel and tube down to 16 1/2 sanded the stock down, rattle can paint, marlin front and rear sights (shocking, but I had them on hand) and you have a decent shooting, handy little truck gun.

The SKS is a good choice, extremely reliable and more than adequate for SD.

My favorite is a pre-bubbaed $25.00 MN 1937 Tula carbine in 7.62x54 I bought years ago. I further bubbaed it and it just seems to feel at home in my old 86 full size Jimmy 4x4.

In my 57 Chevy 4x4 I use on the ranch I like it can be kept unloaded sesame pad locked in it's stand up rack and some stripper clips of 30-06 in the glove box and be fuly california legal. As the clips hold 5 rounds and I have a hunting license I am legally ready for the errant pig I come across in rural central coastal california. It holds 6" groups at 100 yards with 220 grain Corelokts rested on the hood - every time ;)

Now my work truck has a S&W 4006 locked up in the service box with a different drawer full of mags. Legal in Ca. and I heard there is a lot of .40S&W out there if times get bad!

I have two guns that almost never leave my truck.
1) Stainless Ruger SBH 7.5 44 mag
2) Marlin 1895 45-70

I often get a hair while driving around to go stir up some feral hogs. And we have some pretty decent sized hogs around here 400+. And some have a strong resemblance to Eurasians.
