Two out of three ain't bad.
.303" and 9.3mm are rifle bores, .308" isn't.
Man don't you hate when you try to act really smart correcting someone on trivial crap and miss and get one upped.
9.3mm is actually right on the .366 bullet diameter the bore is right at 9.1mm.

Dang, outsmarted myself.

And "bore" for groove diameter is my equivalent of clip vs magazine.
Just stick a 7.62mm bullet in your rifle and see how well it shoots. Remember Lazzeroni who called their nominal .30 a 7.81mm for bullet/groove diameter?

A few days ago, at a white elephant gift exchange, a retired Staff Seargent with a Combat Engineers battalion in the US Marine Corps who saw combat in Iraq, opened a gift containing what he called, "a box of 22 shells." They weren't empties either. This guy and his battalion have probably delivered more ordnance in a live fight than all the pendants on the internet combined. I don't think he cares what the proper name of the stuff is called, as long as his team delivers it, and the enemy gets it.

Sorry to go off topic..,

This reminded me of a story about the troops in the Chosin reservoir in Korea. The nick name for mortar rounds was Tootsie rolls. The front line troupes called back to supply to get more “Tootsie rolls”. The supply sergeant on the radio was a newbie and sent Tootsie roll candy. As much as the troops needed the mortar rounds, the candy was well received to keep them going. A mistake, but with good benefits regardless.

Back to the main subject.
