Case CV Sowbelly

I have a number of Case CV pocket knives and really like them. Came across a reference to the Sowbelly model but never had one. Aside from the different shape, does the Sowbelly offer any advantage over the Stockman model? They look interesting. Does that curved shape fit better in the hand?

yep

i love my stainless sowbelly. kinda like a chubby stockman... i never paid much mind to the pattern till i was gifted one, a CV version sounds awesome to me.
i like the ergonomics works well for me

Case CV Sowbelly....

I have one of those beauties and it is my favorite daily carry. The Sowbelly is made from heavier gauge steel than the comparable Stockman model. The chrome vanadium takes and holds an edge wonderfully. I am a wood carver and it is imperative that the steel holds an edge or I would spend all my carving time re-sharpening. I cant think of any reason that would ever make me sell or give up my Sowbelly...Harold

Another vote for the Sowbelly.

I just ordered one and should have it in a few days. I've been using the medium Stockman as a pocket whittler but the Sowbelly shape sounds even better. As much as I like my stainless steel Case knives, and I do, I'm replacing them with the CV versions with the yellow grips. I like the looks of the yellow and they are very smooth and comfortable.

I'm learning a bit of wood carving as another retirement activity (strictly hand tools) and have some fixed blades and gouges. But a good, comfortable pocket whittling knife is a treasure.

tough to beat the yeller knives, my edc since 2008 has been my yeller CV medium stockman, id be lost if i didnt have it in my pocket.
Good choice! CV is my favorite also, unfortunately alot of the patterns arent available or not currently available in CV.

hhersh was right. The Sowbelly is a bit longer and noticeably heavier gauge and larger than the medium Stockman. (I couldn't tell that from pictures of the internet.) The curve fits my large hand well. Altogether, a more robust knife. The blade shapes are the same as the Stockman and I've found those three shapes cover most whittling needs. I really like it. Like the other Case CV knives, this one came very sharp. A couple of minutes with a strop finished the edge perfectly.

If you need a small, light folder, the Sowbelly is probably too big but it should work well for me.

thanks for the review and update, nice to see somebody buy one for using, nothing wrong with safe queens but knives were meant to be carried and used
