A couple of recent threads mentioned the Case CV Sodbuster Jr. I like 'basic' knives (old carbon Schrades, Mora classics, etc.) and the Sodbuster sounded good. Just picked one up this morning and I am impressed. I have several Case SS knives. They are good but I like the CV Sodbuster better.
It came sharp and a few strokes on the strop made it arm hair shaving sharp. The fit and finish are better than I expected for an inexpensive knife. I really like the yellow grips. They are smooth, warm and comfortable and remind me of the knife I had as a kid. The spring pressure holds the blade safely open. It would take a serious effort for it to close on your fingers.
This may be my ultimate pocket knife for weight and size. The blade's spine is a bit thicker than an Opinel #6 (an old favorite) and it feels a bit more solid. Another plus for me is it will make an excellent pocket whittler. I've been using a Kersaw Double Cross as a whittler but the Sodbuster Jr. is much more comfortable and cuts at least as well.
Do I need any other of the CV Case knives? No. Will I get more in the future? Very likely.
