Case-hardened coloring

On the "Walker" thread "JCT" mentions that "Oxphoblue" (from Brownell's) seems to enhance the case-hardening colors on his pistols a little.

Does anyone know of any chemical compound or method that restores or enhances case coloring a LOT ?

I don't even know why this works, but it pulled out some colors that were weak and made them richer. Somehow the oxidation livens up the colors. If I had a revolver to play around with, I'd heat the case colored frame with a torch until red and try quenching it in oxphoblue to see what happens.
