Hi all,
Haven't been posting here for a while. I have been way too busy with life, getting a new shop building outfitted and running, and just working on pistols. Just thought I would post this one here as it is something really a bit different. It is based on the excellent Caspian XR kits pus some adds.
EGW ignition set
STI ti strut
Greider medium trigger
MARS lanyard loop mag well
22 LPI curved serrations on top of the slide
10-8 sights drilled for Trijicons
VZ John's Gatorbacks
Ed Brown mag release
Ed Brown ambi safety
Storm Lake barrel
carbonized rails for gall prevention
Front strap serrations removed and 25 LPI CNC checkering by EGW
4.5 lb trigger pull (of course it's crisp:) )
Underside of slide release serrated at 40 LPI
Rear of slide serrated at 40 LPI to match 10-8 serrations
Rear of slide slightly flattened for better target picture
60 degree target barrel crown
and so on.....here are the pics. Hope to have some more time to just come over and hang out now that things are slowing down a bit!:grumble:

Great work!

Where did you find Wilson style grips without the medallion? Are those the VZ's you mention? If so, I want a pair right now.

The grips are from VZ Grips and are the Gatorbacks. Thanks for all of the kind words. This one is a winner for sure.

Nice pistol! Don't slow down too much, I still have a Caspian Ti I'm waiting for! :D Hope to see some pix of mine soon. ;)

The base pistol is one of the Caspian Xtreme Recon "kits". It comes with the frame, the slide, the barrel if ordered, the ejector, the firing pin, ejector and a couple of other small bits for a very good price. The frame is basically a Caspian Recon frame with rail. The slide is styled after the Sig GSR because at one time Caspian was making all of the frames for the GSR. Then they cancelled the contract. So now, Caspian has these GREAT kits for a very very nice price. Pick some nice finishing pieces and you end up with a very high end, top quality Caspian firearm that you won't see every body else with. I have built and sold about a half a dozen of these and they have been absolutley stone reliable and tack drivers to boot. Every one has shot one ragged hole free hand at 15 yards.

What barrel link brand and size did you use? Was there any fitting, that was a pain (in regards to the barrel)? Since the Storm Lake is designed for the kit was it pretty much a drop in?

Gorgeous piece; the current price on XR kits is a steal and makes it verrrry hard to explain to myself why I don't need another WIP right now.
Cheers, TF

BEAUTIFUL! :) Glad things have settled down some and allowing you more time on the bench :D
Keep 'em coming Jess...

It's a beautiful piece, I love the look of the sig profile slide with the tactical rail, it's very pleasing aesthetically. Out of curiosity though, how hard would it be to do the same checkering that the slide release has on the thumb safety? perhaps subdued so it won't snag but still be the same LPI?
