Interested in seeing folks that have had their 1911's customized, what they had done, what the wait was and who did the work.

STI Master frame, checkered front strap, long wide dust cover.
STI Unique slide, no ball cuts up front.
Kart Natl. Match ramped barrel.
McCormick Xtreme grip safety.
STI extended safety.
Wilson combat ultra lite hammer and sear.
Infinity tri-Glide disconnector.
10-8 flat trigger....I bought and installed.
Smith & Alexander flat checkered MS housing and integral magazine well.
EGW stainless 2 piece FL guide rod and plug
EGW thick beveled and angle bored barrel bushing
STI 38 Super titanium firing pin
EGW fitted firing pin stop
Wison Combat bullet proof slide stop
Ed Brown extended magazine catch
Double diamond checkered Brazilian rosewood grips
Champion Bomar sights
Nowlin pins through out.
When I bought it, it had a parkerized finish. I didn't particularly like it so I had a local smith hot blue it for me. My photography does not do it justice. It shoots lights out, feels like one hunk of steel and would feed 45 caliber rocks if I had any.
It was built by Ryan Shanks of Logic Gunsmithing, Belle, Missouri.

I built this LW Commander in 1975 using a frame and slide by different companies that are now out of business. I fit the Gov't length barrel after seeing an article by Mas Ayoob about a similar setup he was using on a steel-frame Commander. The Ed Brown beavertail was added later.

I've got between 12,000 and 15,000 rounds through it. The frame has a small crack in front of the slide stop pin that showed up 3-4,000 rounds ago. It hasn't gotten any bigger.

This gun started off as an Argentine 1927 surplus pistol. I installed a bunch of Wilson parts and some good sights. It feeds anything and seems very accurate.

Japle, that Argentine 1927 looks the way I like my 1911's to look and shoots that same way; nice job.

And the top of the collection, a Pistol Dynamics XO with a bobtail and Dawson rail, active recoil plug, fluted barrel, gold bead front sight, hard chrome and the sweetest trigger you have ever felt.

I'm wiping the drool off my keyboard. That Argentine, except with Trijicons and an ambi safety, is what I want my Kimber to look like.

Both of these are done by Austin Behlert, the 1911 is a 1924 Colt. IMG_2980.jpg Yost-Bonitz IMG_1933.jpg IMG_2957.gif Custom Delta Elite by Chuck Warner IMG_1965.gif

Its the most customized 1911 I own, also the most expensive, was at one point an AMT Harballer, and is now a .22lr... It only has two or three parts left that were installed from the factory, the frame, trigger, and (I think?) the mag release.

The frame was rebuilt by a local gunsmith using some take-off and new parts. I specified a Kimber gripsafety since I own four Kimbers. It seems everyone else wanted a .22lr conversion when I did, and they were all backordered, so after looking for a few months I got the first one available, a fixed sight Ceiner.

It shot high out of the box, and to get it to shoot POA I had to take so much off the rear sight that the notch was only about .050" deep. In a more recent lot of ammo, it started shooting high again, so I asked the 'smith about an adjustable sight. He mentioned he had a few used Bo-Mar or LPA sights in his shop, so I left it with him for a hidden dovetail. It still shot high, so I picked up a Novak blank front sight, shaped it to my preference, and left it with him to serrate and install (pic taken before it was installed).

No future plans, but you never know. A few years ago it was just a parts gun, and I've spent $600 on it since then.

The pink stock in the pic is my four year old daughter's .22 cricket. I bought it so she has her own rifle waiting in the safe for when she's ready to shoot. The black stock is not an HK, its a GSG-5. Brought up only because if I don't mention them, someone will ask...

TXSWFAN, that I like; how does it shoot?

Better than I can. It's dehorned for carry and the longer sight radius helps my eyes.

Here's my favorite 1911 I shoot. Wilson Combat Supergrade Compact. Nary a hiccup ever.

LOL. Ric, I think those grips with the Superman logo over a cross is one of the funniest things I've ever seen in my life. I'd love a T'shirt with that emblem on it!!!!! Where did you get those made? I actually have to use the bathroom, I'm laughing so hard.
