Has anyone had any good/bad luck running cast SWC bullets in their 40S&W CZ75? I'm specifically looking at the Dardas and MBC offerings.

I have found my 9mm CZ75 chambers and feed ramps to be intolerant of certain bullet shapes, and don't want to place a bullet order for either if folk have had issues....

Can`t give an answer on your 40 CZ but I have been having very good accuracy and no visable leading shooting the DARDAS 155gr SWC over 4.3gr of TG. 100 to 150 rounds each time I shoot. (GLOCK 35, stock barrel)

I have been using the Dardas 180 gr. Flat nose in my CZ .40 with 5.2 grs. Unique with better then excellent results, more accurate then I can shoot.
Just a fine load in my Cz.

I have fired various SWCs in .40S&W and they all feed and shoot great. AA5 or Power Pistol are excellent choices.

I've wondered the same thing. The CZ75 .40 doesn't like the some of the longer bullets and wasn't sure if the SWC would work well.

Brad sent along a small lot of .401 170gr SWCs for me to try, and I got the first batch of ammo made up tonight.

I set the OAL at 1.125, and hand-cycled ten (10) of 'em through the gun to check for chamber or feed issues (of which their were none). Since everything seemed to be looking good, I've made up a batch for the next range trip and I'll report back when it's done.

Went to the range today to test out three 40S&W loads in the CZ75B. All loads used mixed brass, R-P #5 1/5 primers, and 5.3gr of Green Dot topped with either the MBC 170gr SWC, the Kead 170gr SWC, or the Kead 180gr TC. The OAL for all three loads was set at 1.125"-1.130", and I used a light taper crimp. I made a batch of 100rds of each load, and I shot all three batches.

All three bullet shapes fed flawlessly and gave fine performance. I had one (1) premature slide lock occur on the last round of a string but this gun has done that before using factory FMJ (and I have yet to dress down the slide stop lug to reduce it's width). The only thing noteworthy is that the powder charge is pretty stout and I'll probably back it down to 5gr; I saw no leading issues but when fired back to back with Blazer Brass FMJ my handloads were actually snappier.

Anyway, that answers my questions - the CZ75B 40S&W seems to be fairly tolerant of a variety of bullet profiles (truncated cone and SWC) both in terms of feeding and chambering.

(Oh, and one more shout-out to MBC for sending me the sample pack that I used for this little test.)

Update:

I started having three-point jam issues with the Kead and MBC SWC designs recently. I traced the issue to the fact that I had relaxed the taper crimp to virtually nil and the sharp mouth of the case was catching on the hood at the upper mouth of the chamber. A quick die adjustment to set a bit more crimp on the mouth fixed this issue. I also verified that TC design bullets did not have this problem when seated at 1.125 since the shoulder of the bullet was well above the case mouth and allowed the bullet to 'tip' into the chamber sooner.

Just a heads-up, if anyone is going to be loading SWCs for the CZ.

I use the lee 180 gr. SWC for all my lead bullets on my CZ's(40 S&W) I shoot them in my CZ75B in .40 and I have a CZ tactical sport in .40 cal. These are accurate and do not lead the barrel. I use 5 gr's of WW231 but 4.9 is a little more accurate.

SWC for CZ75

I also shoot 160gr. SWC's in my CZ75"D". they are sized for .357 but they work and shoot fine in my 75 "D". and these don't lead up that barrel either. but I do shoot lead round nose my CZ 9mms(115 gr.) and they work just fine. no leading so far.
