I was approached to test some Cavity Back Bullets brand MKZ monolithic all copper bullets by the folks at CBB (www.cavitybackbullets.com). CBB is a new company with a limited number of caliber offers, but is slowing expanding its line of bullets (6, 6.5, 6.8, 7.62/.308, 7.62x39). These are a bullet with a hollowed out base that opens into three petals in soft tissue. They are currently only sold as bullets, but the company provided with loaded ammo for my testing as I don't reload. Previously, I had seen the results of the 6.8 SPC version on Youtube (search 'cavity back bullets' on Youtube for examples) and as they are expanding into Grendel, I got asked to do some testing. So the ammo is being provided by CBB, but I am not being paid or otherwise compensated.

I am mostly concerned with the accuracy and terminal ballistics, not anything to do with the loading aspects or arguments about non-lead bullets being the future of shooting. These are a hunting bullet, but an impressively accurate bullet from what I have seen in previous testing and with some of my own.

This first video shows the initial range work I did and the first two hog hunts using the 118 gr. bullets. Accuracy was very good. The first hog was apparently hit too far back and managed to run off property and was not recovered. The second hog was DRT with a non-traditional spine shot. I will be added to the results with future hog kills and try to develop a more representational overview for how these perform in the field.

FYI, there is some necrospy images, so may be NSFWF.
