I have recently bought a Uniden PC68Xl radio. The manual that came with it is pretty much worthless. I was wondering about the power meter. When I am transmitting, the meter is in the red zone. Do I need to tune my antenna? Thanks

Don't know how this fits in S&T, and don't know anything about your radio. However, if your SWR is off it can damage your radio. I'd buy a meter and check it (they're like $15, and Radio Shack probably still carries them...)

Anytime I got a new CB I always hook up an SWR (standing Wave Ratio) meter inline from the CB to the antenna and took a reading of what it was.

The best is a 1:1 ratio. The higher you get puts a strain on the CB and could blow the finals (sp) in it.

I hope that helps you out. :)

Very first post is on a CB radio?

That's kinda funny.

Breaker One Nine, you got the GlockMan here, come on back 10-Forty Roger.

Thanks guys. This may have been my first post, but dont think i registered just to talk about CB's. I am a lifetime member of the NRA, a "gun totin' redneck", and right wing freak.

I used to enjoy the CB a long time ago in Colorado.

That was the latest fad,,,and hot rods,,,and drive in movies,,,and girls.

Apologies ;)

Welcome! I just thought it was kinda funny.

Why CB anymore though? What about HAM radio for some usefulness.

I don't see the usefulness of CBs but a 2 Meter amateur station at least gets you into a repeater for some useful distance, and most are monitored by people that could actually be of some help if you needed it.
