Ok, so i am really liking this Dan Wesson CBob, thinking maybe of selling my P220 and saving up some cash to get one, dose anyone carry the Cbob? if so, does the bobed grip make a real difference in conceilment?

I carried one for a few months.

The BOB feature does enhance concealment for some people.

I tote mine anywhere I can carry. The bobbed frame helps, but the amount that it does depends drastically on body type, holster, and what kind of clothes are being worn. I can tell a difference, but a lot of folks say they don't notice any difference between it and a standard MSH/frame. Just depends I guess. I prefer it. YMMV.

i was thinking of getting one, my local gunshop has had one in stock for a couple weeks. hand fit all the way; nice piece for sure. the $999 price is what turned me off.

i ended up getting this for almost $300 less (used, never fired)

I carry my CBOB almost every day. The bobbed frame helps a little bit as far as printing goes, but that wasn't the primary reason I got it. I just liked the way the bobbed frame fit my hand. Still trying to find a holster I like for it. Galco Summer comfort is OK, but I'm not a huge fan of IWB holsters for pistols this size. I have a Milt Sparks Axiom on order that should show up in December. Can't wait to try it. Have a Galco Silhouette that I don't particularly like. Never carry it anymore.

Just curious other than the good looks is there a benefit to having a CBOB grip?

The bobbed frame just eliminates, or at least softens, one more sharp edge that tends to print.

I love the CBOB. The bobtail grip does eliminate the sharp corner which sometimes causes printing problems. I also like the feel of the bobtail grip. Some don't. You need to handle one to decide for yourself. By the way, I think this is a very well made 1911. It has a number of high quality parts from Ed Brown, but costs half as much as a semi-custom like an Ed Brown or a Les Baer (much less in the case of a Baer). If you like the 1911, it's hard not to like the CBOB.

I own or have owned Brown's, Wilson's, Baer's, Kimber's, Colt's, and DW's.
(Four of which are Bobtails).

As far as I'm concerned, the Dan Wesson CBOB is by far the best "bang for the buck".
It's not in the same class as some of the others, but for the money, I don't think anything else out there can touch it.

YMMV.

Just a gimmick. Kinda reminds me of full length guide rods and trigger shoes.
What, no front cocking serrations.

Bob tail feel better in my hand than any of my 7 Colts 1911's That rounded off corner is nice when shooting It does conceal a little better on me I carry out side pants in a UBG holster and that sharp edge is gone on my shirts now I wear t shirts 99% of time
Its not a gimmick Like the front cocking serrations or full length guide rods
May be you should try shooting one mr 17 posts

Awhile back someone posted how you could save money on DW by buying "blemished" firearms. Is that still possible? If so, what vendor do you go through?

I, too am intrigued by the CBOB and other Wesson 1911's. Negative comments on them are extremely rare and positive feedback is very, very common.

I'd love to have one.

the CBOB feels the same in my hand as any other 1911. probably because i have small hands that don't fill in the bobbed area.

True I have been a member for some time but have not posted much. Those who know don't talk and those who talk don't know.

Soooooo, opinions only count if all you do is sit around typing on your key board? If on the other hand you actually shoot (allot) and compete (a life time), its meaningless. (Dreaming sequence........If I were only a real Operator then I would have the time to help guide every one else). Besides that comment was for Lancer, he posed the question. You stated your opinion as I did mine.
Your from Dixie, your skin should be thicker than that.

although the hudge only has a miniscule amount of posts, he is indeed free to express his opinion. and as much as i like Full length guide rods (because you do get an ever so slight bit of weight up front.) its mostly a gimmick, and as cool as it makes you look cocking your gun with front serrations it is also a gimmick, i do see how theoretically a bobbed gripcould help print less, i have concealed a full size govt model with little problem, i was just looking for peoples experences

Really depends on body type.

I think bobtails are "cool", but they do nothing for me in reducing printing, nor do I have problems with the grip poking into my side.

Even if you don't consider the bobtail, the DW CBOB is a really nice and affordable pistol for all the custom parts and finish work.

How does the CBOb cut affect the grip itself especially for someone with large hands?

I have hands on the larger side and I think that I get a better grip on the bobtail because the fat part of my palm fits where the material is removed on the MSH.
