The replacement stainless steel nipples for my Uberti 1860 Army recommend CCI #11 caps. All I have found are CCI #10 caps. Are they likely to fit at all? I have the original Uberti nipples. Will the CCI caps fit them? Why are percussion caps in such short supply?

The original nipples should handle the #10 caps fine. That's what they are designed for.

Percussion caps are made by CCI, Remington, and RWS. All of whom manufacture ammunition and primers for reloading.

The muzzle loading market is overshadowed by the scarcity of ammunition and reloading primers. We in the black powder business probably represent only 10% to 15% of the sporting arms market.

If Hillary gets "The Ticket", ammunition and reloading components will be flying off the shelves, and percussion caps will have to "take a back seat".

Remington caps are more "flexible" than CCI and can be forced to spread when pushed on with a short dowel. I have seen people using the hammer to seat caps, but that method scares me.

Anyone have idea what cap would be best fit for pedersoli beryllium nipples for uberti 1858?
